Silk Security announced its public launch on August 1, 2023, alongside a $12.5 million seed round led by Insight Partners and Hetz Ventures. The cybersecurity startup said its platform was designed to help organizations move from finding security risks to assigning and completing the work needed to fix them.

Who invested in Silk Security’s seed round?

Silk announced that Insight Partners and Hetz Ventures co-led the $12.5 million financing. The round also included the CrowdStrike Falcon Fund and angel investors Shlomo Kramer, Mickey Boodaei, and Rakesh Loonkar, according to SecurityWeek’s August 1, 2023 report and the company’s launch announcement.

The figure describes the seed financing announced at launch; it is not a statement about Silk’s current valuation or later fundraising.

What was Silk Security’s product meant to do?

Security teams can uncover vulnerabilities and other risks across many systems, while the people able to make changes may work in development or operations. Silk’s stated goal was to connect those stages so that discovered issues could be put into a remediation workflow rather than remain a list of findings.

Hetz Ventures’ portfolio description characterizes Silk’s workflow as consolidating security findings, adding context to help prioritize them, assigning remediation ownership, and offering guidance on fixes. In practical terms, the product was positioned to help teams decide what to address, identify who should address it, and track the path toward resolution.

Silk called its offering “the first platform for sustainable cyber risk resolution” in its launch announcement. That was the company’s positioning, not an independently verified category distinction.

Who founded Silk Security?

Silk was founded in 2022 by Yoav Nathaniel, CEO; Or Priel, CPO; and Bar Katz, CTO. Contemporaneous coverage linked the founders’ prior experience with Avanan, Ermetic, and Facebook. The company’s launch announcement and SecurityWeek’s report provide the launch-era context.

What happened to Silk Security after its launch?

Silk did not remain an independent startup: Hetz Ventures’ portfolio page says it was acquired by Armis. In April 2024, CTech reported the announced acquisition at $150 million. That price is attributed to CTech’s report, not to Silk’s 2023 funding announcement.

The available acquisition reporting does not establish whether Silk’s product remains separately available or exactly how it has been integrated into Armis. The 2023 launch therefore describes a historical product and funding announcement, not confirmation of a current standalone vendor or service.
