A 2025 Chevy Colorado can be the smarter buy—but only if a comparable truck is available for less once you account for trim, equipment, incentives, financing, and fees. Chevrolet’s published starting MSRPs differ by $500; that gap is not a guaranteed discount or a measure of what either truck will cost at a dealership.
What Chevrolet’s published prices do—and don’t—tell you

The $500 difference is between Chevrolet’s published starting figures. It does not compare equivalent trims, establish an average dealer discount, or guarantee that a 2025 truck will save you $500. The two comparison pages list different numbers of models, so confirm the exact trim and packages before treating two trucks as comparable.
What the model-year pages say is shared
Chevrolet lists the same core powertrain output and maximum available trailering figure for both years. The company describes a 2.7L TurboMax inline-four producing 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, along with a maximum available trailering weight of 7,700 lb. That towing figure is a maximum, not a promise for every Colorado; capability depends on the vehicle’s configuration and conditions.
Both pages also describe standard Chevy Safety Assist, an 11.3-inch center touchscreen with Google built-in, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 11-inch digital driver information display. Verify the features on the specific truck and trim in the dealer’s written quote or vehicle documentation.

How to decide whether a 2025 is actually the better deal
Compare the trucks you could really buy, not just their model years or starting prices. Ask dealers for written, itemized out-the-door quotes on the same or closely matched trim and equipment. Chevrolet directs shoppers to inventory and dealer pricing; its model pages do not publish universal local transaction prices.
- Match the configuration. Compare trim, packages, and equipment you need. Because Chevrolet’s 2025 and 2026 pages list five and six models respectively, respectively, check availability rather than assuming every version has a direct counterpart.
- Request itemized out-the-door prices. Include the vehicle price, dealer fees, taxes, and other charges in each written quote. A lower advertised price may not mean a lower amount due.
- Compare incentives and financing separately. Ask what cash incentives apply and what financing terms are available for each truck. Compare the total cost under the terms you would actually use; do not assume a lower monthly payment means a lower purchase cost.
- Check what is included. Confirm packages, accessories, and other equipment on the actual vehicle. Chevrolet’s 2025 page identifies an available truck bed cover, but that does not mean a cover is included. For any cover, verify fitment for the truck’s model year and bed configuration.
- Confirm local availability and the specific vehicle’s terms. A quote only helps if the truck is still available and its stated equipment and terms match what the dealer will sell you. Review warranty terms for each particular vehicle rather than presuming a difference by model year.
When to choose the 2025—and when not to
The 2025 may make more financial sense if
- You find a 2025 in the trim and configuration you want.
- Its written out-the-door quote is lower than the comparable 2026 quote after fees, incentives, and financing are accounted for.
- The equipment and vehicle-specific terms meet your needs.
The 2026 may be the better fit if
- The 2025 trucks available locally lack a trim, package, or equipment combination you require.
- A comparable 2026 has a lower overall cost under the actual quotes and financing available to you.
- You prefer a specific 2026 configuration and its price difference is worth it to you.
The published figures alone do not establish a redesign, reliability or resale difference, fuel-economy change, warranty advantage, or dealer discount between these model years. Base your decision on the particular trucks and written terms in front of you.
