SpaceX is public, but its IPO price is not a current valuation
SpaceX completed its June 2026 initial public offering. It offered 638.9 million Class A shares and priced them at $135 per share; the company reported $85.675 billion in net proceeds after commissions and offering costs. These are historical offering figures, not an October quote or a measure of fair value. SpaceX’s June 11, 2026 pricing announcement said shares were expected to begin trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market and Nasdaq Texas on June 12 under the ticker SPCX.
The latest financial filing identified here covers the quarter ended June 30, 2026. It provides interim results, not a full-year forecast. Without an October 7 share price and an up-to-date valuation, the IPO price alone cannot answer whether buying SPCX now makes sense.
What SpaceX reported through June 30, 2026
For the six months ended June 30, 2026, SpaceX reported $12.508 billion in revenue, up from $8.138 billion in the corresponding 2025 period. It also reported a $4.817 billion net loss, compared with a $1.536 billion loss for the first six months of 2025. Revenue growth is meaningful context, but it does not by itself demonstrate profitability or establish what the shares are worth.

The company generated $3.466 billion in cash from operating activities during the first six months of 2026, while reporting $28.476 billion in capital expenditures for the same period. These figures describe different parts of the financial picture: operating cash flow measures cash generated by operations, while capital expenditures show substantial investment spending. Neither figure alone resolves the company’s future funding needs or whether its investments will earn adequate returns. The figures are reported in SpaceX’s SEC filing for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
Revenue and results span three segments

In this interim period, Connectivity was the largest of the three segments by revenue and the only one with reported operating income. Space and AI reported operating losses. These segment results help explain why evaluating SpaceX solely as a launch business would miss much of its reported activity; they do not, on their own, show whether the mix or profitability will persist.
Risks disclosed at the IPO include voting control and dilution
SpaceX’s pricing announcement directed investors to read the prospectus and its risk factors. IPO documents are a starting point for understanding risks, not a substitute for reviewing the full, current disclosures and subsequent filings before investing.

Marex Financial’s UK retail-offer disclosure said that, upon completion of the offering, Elon Musk would hold a majority of voting power, while Class B shares would elect a majority of the board. It also said SpaceX expected to qualify as a controlled company and intended to rely on exemptions from certain corporate-governance listing requirements. Those statements describe the company’s IPO context and the disclosure’s expectations; investors should check current filings for any later changes. Marex Financial’s IPO disclosure also calculated estimated immediate purchaser dilution of $127.15 per share.
That $127.15 figure compared the $135 offering price with estimated post-offering adjusted pro forma net tangible book value per share. It is a book-value dilution measure—not a prediction that the stock would fall by $127.15, nor proof that an IPO buyer lost that amount in market value.

A practical framework for deciding whether SPCX fits
Before making a decision, gather current information and work through these questions:
- What price and valuation are you evaluating? Get a current SPCX quote and current share-count and financial information. The $135 IPO price is not a target or fair-value estimate.
- Are the segments executing? Compare later filings with the June 2026 interim results, looking at revenue and operating profitability by segment rather than relying on launch activity or total revenue alone.
- Can you accept the investment and funding risk? Consider the reported net loss and the scale of capital expenditures alongside operating cash flow, then review updated disclosures for funding needs and risks.
- Are you comfortable with governance and voting control? Read the current prospectus and filings to understand voting rights, board election arrangements, and any governance exemptions.
- Does the position fit your time horizon and risk capacity? A concentrated holding in a company with losses, substantial investment spending, and control-related risks may not suit money you may need soon or a portfolio that cannot absorb a large loss.
A decision to buy should rest on a valuation you can defend using current information and on risks you can afford to bear—not on the excitement of a high-profile IPO or an assumption that the offering price remains relevant.
