When Shiish Kebab opened in Victoria Park
PerthNow reported on 23 September 2024 that Shiish Kebab had opened on Albany Highway. The report and Urban List described it as Perth’s first venue serving Berliner kebabs. That “first” claim comes from the coverage; the available sources do not independently establish that no other Perth venue served the style.
Urban List and Uber Eats list the address as 888 Albany Highway, East Victoria Park, WA 6101. Uber Eats lists menu items and delivery availability, but listing information and service availability can change.
What is a Berliner kebab?
A Berliner kebab is an open pita pocket filled with spiced meat, salad and sauce, rather than a tightly enclosed kebab. PerthNow describes eating the top portion with a fork before picking up the rest to eat by hand. Uber Eats describes Shiish’s version as chicken or lamb with German doner, mixed vegetables and Shiish sauce.

What are French tacos at Shiish?
Despite the name, these are not conventional Mexican tacos. PerthNow describes Shiish’s French-style version as meat, the restaurant’s special cheese sauce and fries wrapped in a tortilla, then lightly pressed in a waffle grill. The Uber Eats menu lists sizes with different numbers of tortillas and meat choices, alongside sauces, vegetables, fries and cheese sauce; those menu details may change.
The two formats differ in structure and finish: a Berliner kebab is an open pita pocket, while a French taco is a filled tortilla wrap pressed in a grill. Urban List says the restaurant describes its bread as baked in-house and its food as inspired by European gourmet kebab culture; those are the directory’s descriptions of the restaurant, not independently verified production details.

Where is Shiish Kebab, and when is it open?
Listings show the restaurant at 888 Albany Highway, East Victoria Park, WA 6101. The published hours are inconsistent: PerthNow described Wednesday-to-Sunday service at launch, Urban List lists Wednesday to Sunday from 4:00–9:00 p.m. with Monday and Tuesday closed, and Uber Eats displays different, longer platform hours. These sources do not establish the current dine-in schedule, so confirm hours with Shiish before making a trip.

PerthNow relayed Shiish’s Instagram opening caption: “Watch out, Perth! Berliner Kebab is about to take over! 👀🥙” The same report quoted Perth food influencer Ryan Khong of Perth Food Adventures saying, “You’ll never get anything like this anywhere else,” and “Super tasty meat.” These are the restaurant’s announcement and one person’s reaction, not independent proof of uniqueness or a publication assessment of the food.
