A dividend yield cannot be stated reliably without a share price observed on a specific date. Yield also depends on whether the calculation uses the latest declared rate annualized or dividends actually paid over the trailing year.

Q2 2026 and management’s outlook
In results released July 28, 2026, for the quarter ended June 30, Sherwin-Williams reported net sales of $6.789 billion, up 7.5% year over year. Diluted EPS increased 14.3% to $3.43 from $3.00 a year earlier; adjusted diluted EPS increased 9.5% to $3.70 from $3.38. First-half operating cash flow was $1.49 billion, and the company said it returned $2.23 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases during the first six months of 2026. This is management’s dated outlook, not a reported result or assurance. CEO Heidi G. Petz said in the July 28, 2026 release: “While customer sentiment and the leading indicators we track point to continued demand softness in the second half, we remain focused on the actions within our control.” Company Q2 2026 results release.
Is Sherwin-Williams stock cheap or expensive?
The financial results above do not answer that question on their own. The materials cited here do not provide a contemporaneous share price, so they cannot support a current P/E ratio, yield, fair-value estimate, or a conclusion that SHW is cheap or expensive.

To calculate a P/E ratio, use a dated share price and divide it by a clearly labeled earnings-per-share denominator. For a trailing P/E, specify the trailing period and whether the denominator is GAAP EPS; for a forward P/E, identify the forecast period and source. If using adjusted EPS, label the result separately from a GAAP-based multiple. A meaningful comparison with peers also requires consistent dates, fiscal periods, currencies, and accounting definitions.
Valuation should be considered alongside the assumptions behind future earnings: expected sales growth, margins, cash generation, financing costs, and the potential effects of acquisition-related amortization and restructuring charges. No intrinsic value or peer ranking is established by the figures presented here.

What are the main risks for SHW investors?
Sherwin-Williams’ annual report and Q2 2026 management commentary identify pressures that may affect sales, margins, or financing costs. They describe exposures, not certain future outcomes or a quantified forecast of their effects.
- Demand weakness: The FY2025 annual report described soft global demand and cited elevated interest rates, weak new and existing home sales, and limited industrial spending. In the Q2 2026 release, management said demand had not meaningfully improved and expected continued softness in the second half.
- Input-cost inflation: Q2 commentary cited broad-based inflation across raw materials, energy, logistics, and packaging. If costs rise faster than the company can offset them, margins could face pressure.
- Financing costs: The company cited higher interest expense associated with increased short-term borrowings and long-term debt in its Q2 discussion.
- Acquisition and restructuring charges: The company’s adjusted EPS outlook excludes specified Valspar acquisition-related amortization and severance and other restructuring expenses. These adjustments matter when comparing adjusted results with GAAP earnings.
These risks interact: soft demand can constrain sales while inflation affects costs, and borrowing-related interest expense can weigh on earnings independently of operating performance. The company’s comments do not establish how large or how long any of these effects will be.
