The planned SHEIN pop-up at Lakeside Joondalup did not go ahead there. The centre confirmed before the event’s scheduled 21–23 June 2024 dates that the activation would no longer proceed at its venue. SHEIN later announced a replacement Perth event at the Centenary Pavilion, Claremont Showgrounds, for 5–7 July 2024.
What happened to the Lakeside Joondalup pop-up?
PerthNow reported on 12 June 2024 that Lakeside Joondalup had confirmed the activation would not proceed at the shopping centre. It had been planned for 21–23 June and was reported as SHEIN’s first Perth pop-up. The centre’s spokesperson said: “This activation will no longer be proceeding at Lakeside Joondalup, but we look forward to bringing other new and exciting experiences to our community soon.”
Where did the Perth event move?
SHEIN subsequently confirmed a three-day event at the Centenary Pavilion at Claremont Showgrounds, scheduled for 5–7 July 2024. Its spokesperson told PerthNow: “Shein is excited to confirm the planned Perth pop-up event will proceed between 5-7th July at the Centenary Pavilion, Claremont Showgrounds.”
The replacement event was a different venue and set of dates; it does not mean the Lakeside Joondalup activation went ahead. Event details reported for Claremont included apparel and accessories, a SHEGLAM beauty bar, DJ performances, giveaways and photo opportunities.

Why was the Lakeside event cancelled?
The reason was not disclosed in contemporaneous coverage. PerthNow reported that Lakeside Joondalup would not comment on its motive, and Ragtrader also reported that neither the centre nor SHEIN shared a reason. The available reporting therefore does not establish whether the decision was related to public reaction, commercial considerations or another cause.
