James Bord did not buy Sheffield Wednesday: his consortium withdrew from the proposed takeover in February 2026. Arise Capital Partners completed the purchase in May. The Neil Lennon comments and January transfer story linked to Bord were about Dunfermline Athletic, not Wednesday, and the available reporting does not verify a current Wednesday transfer boost.
Who owns Sheffield Wednesday now?
Arise Capital Partners completed its purchase of Sheffield Wednesday on 2 May 2026. The group is led by David Storch, alongside Michael Storch and Tom Costin, according to BBC Sport’s report on the completed sale.
That outcome followed a period of administration and several changes in the takeover process. On 24 October 2025, the English Football League said it had received notice that Dejphon Chansiri had taken steps to appoint administrators to the club and the company that owns Hillsborough. The EFL announced an automatic 12-point deduction under its regulations, while describing the situation as an opportunity to move toward a sale and new ownership. The EFL’s statement set out both consequences.
What happened to James Bord’s takeover bid?
Bord’s consortium became preferred bidder on 24 December 2025, with the proposed deal later reported by BBC Sport as worth £47.8 million. The bid did not complete: the consortium withdrew on 25 February 2026. BBC Sport reported that documentation remained outstanding and that financial and background checks had proved challenging. Its report also said the group had funded losses at about £1 million a month during the bid period; that is a report about that process, not an audited figure or a current measure of the club’s costs. BBC Sport’s account of the withdrawal provides the details.

Arise was subsequently selected as preferred bidder on 11 March. At that point, BBC Sport reported concerns about whether its offer would meet a creditor threshold and said a further deduction could follow. That was a contingent position during the sale process, not the final points outcome. The completed sale came in May.
What was Sheffield Wednesday’s final points outcome?
Wednesday had already lost 18 points that season for financial infringements under Chansiri, BBC Sport reported in February 2026. The 12-point administration deduction announced by the EFL in October 2025 was part of that crisis. A separate possible 15-point deduction on leaving administration was later waived: after the sale completed, the club was set to begin the coming season on zero points. The joint-administrator statement reproduced by The Wednesday Word records the completed-sale points outcome.

What did Neil Lennon say about James Bord and transfers?
Lennon’s comments were about Dunfermline Athletic, where he was manager—not Sheffield Wednesday. In a 29 December 2025 report, The Courier said Lennon had been reassured by Bord that Dunfermline would consider “all aspects” of improving its squad in January. Lennon also praised Bord as a positive and generous owner who loved the club. The remarks concerned Bord’s relationship with Dunfermline and the Pars’ plans; they were not a Wednesday manager’s comments or confirmation of a Wednesday signing. The Courier report gives the context.
A separate Courier article published on 1 January 2026 discusses Lennon’s recruitment process and anticipated business at Dunfermline. It likewise does not establish a Sheffield Wednesday transfer update. That report is about the Pars.

Is there a confirmed Sheffield Wednesday transfer boost?
The available reporting does not establish an October 2026 signing, target or other specific transfer boost for Wednesday. The confirmed transfer-related detail in the sale-completion statement is that wage and transfer parameters had been agreed. That shows the new ownership had agreed a framework; it does not identify a player, confirm a deal or provide a current transfer announcement.
For readers checking a transfer claim, the essential distinction is whether the source identifies Sheffield Wednesday and reports a completed move, rather than discussing a possible January addition at Dunfermline. The Lennon coverage falls into the latter category.
