BBC Radio Sheffield reported that ten parties had shown administrators proof of funds, with a soft offer deadline of 21 November and a 5 December target for identifying a preferred bidder. The process later concluded: on 2 May 2026, the EFL announced an agreement to transfer the club’s assets to a new ownership consortium.
What did the ten-party proof-of-funds figure mean?
BBC Radio Sheffield reported on 10 November 2025 that ten parties had provided proof of funds to Sheffield Wednesday’s administrators (BBC Radio Sheffield report). That indicated financial substantiation at an early stage of the sale process. It did not mean that ten formal bids had been submitted or that ten prospective buyers had been approved. The report specifically cautioned that proof of funds did not guarantee that every party would go on to make an offer.
What was the reported takeover timeline?
The dates below were targets reported during the November 2025 process, not guaranteed completion dates.
| Date | Reported milestone |
|---|---|
| 10 November 2025 | BBC Radio Sheffield reported that ten parties had provided proof of funds. |
| 21 November 2025 | Soft deadline for offers. |
| After 21 November | A two-week negotiating period was expected. |
| 5 December 2025 | Target date for deciding preferred-bidder status. |
The sequence distinguished an expression of interest backed by evidence of funds from an offer, selection as preferred bidder, and a completed transfer. The November report did not establish that any particular party reached a later stage.

Who ultimately took ownership of Sheffield Wednesday?
On 2 May 2026, the EFL announced that the administrators had concluded an agreement to transfer the club’s assets to Arise Capital Partners LLC. The consortium was led by David Storch, alongside Michael Storch and Tom Costin. The EFL said the club had met the League’s relevant requirements and was no longer regarded as being in administration (EFL statement, 2 May 2026).
The EFL’s announcement is the confirmed outcome of the process; it does not identify the May 2026 ownership as one of the ten parties reported to have shown proof of funds in November 2025.

What conditions remained after the agreement?
The EFL said Sheffield Wednesday would be subject to a budget restriction for the next two seasons, and player registrations would have to comply with the agreed business plan (EFL statement, 2 May 2026). These conditions qualify the transfer’s outcome: the club had exited administration under the League’s requirements, but its spending and registrations remained governed by the stated restrictions.
EFL Chief Executive Trevor Birch said: “Together, we have managed to move this to a successful conclusion and I would like to wish everybody at the Club, in particular the new ownership and their associates, all the very best for a long and prosperous future that will benefit not only those at the Football Club, but also the supporters and the local community it represents.”

What is documented about the administration filings?
Companies House lists an administrators’ proposal filed on 5 March 2026 and a progress report filed on 2 June 2026 (Sheffield Wednesday filing history). The listing confirms the existence and dates of those filings; it does not, by itself, establish the detailed contents of either document.
