Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership ended with the takeover. The club’s past wage defaults are documented, but the available information does not establish whether 2026/27 wages have been paid on time.
Is Dejphon Chansiri still under pressure to sell Sheffield Wednesday?
No. The sale is no longer pending. On 2 May 2026, the EFL confirmed the transfer of the club’s assets to Arise Capital Partners LLC and said Sheffield Wednesday was no longer in administration. BBC Sport reported that the takeover officially ended Chansiri’s ownership.

The process had reached an interim stage on 10 March 2026, when the club named Arise as preferred bidder. That announcement was not itself a completed sale: the club said Arise had provided a deposit and evidence of funds, and had committed to fund trading losses if the deal did not complete within eight weeks. The transaction was subsequently completed in May.
What is known about Sheffield Wednesday’s wage situation?
Wage defaults before administration
The EFL’s 3 June 2025 announcement charged Sheffield Wednesday and Chansiri over failures to pay player wages on time and in full in March and May 2025. The subsequent disciplinary record documents further defaults, including player wages in June, July and September. The club entered administration on 24 October 2025.

- Inspired by the world's largest soccer matchup, the adidas FIFA World Cup 26 soccer ball pairs design with performance. A seamless TSBE surface enhances touch. The butyl bladder ensures consistent shape retention for every match or practice session.
- TSBE TECHNOLOGY: Seamless surface for better touch and lower water uptake
- KEEPS ITS SHAPE: Butyl bladder for best air retention
- REQUIRES INFLATION: Ships flat, pump not included
- FIFA QUALITY AND OFFICIALLY LICENSED: Officially licensed by FIFA, the ball passed FIFA tests on circumference, weight, rebound and water absorption
BBC Sport reported on 30 October 2025 that administrators said players and staff had received their full wages a day early. The same report said payments had been delayed in five of the seven months before administrators took control. That is evidence about the period before administration and the reported payment at the end of October 2025—not a record of payroll performance in the current season.
What remains unverified for 2026/27
The available statements about the completed takeover do not confirm whether individual 2026/27 pay dates have been met. They establish the sale and certain budget arrangements, not the club’s subsequent payroll history. Without direct, current confirmation, it would be inaccurate to say that wages are currently late—or to claim that they are consistently on time.

- A recreational soccer ball with a resilient butyl bladder for casual games
- SOFT AND DURABLE: Machine-stitched construction ensures a soft touch and high durability
- KEEPS ITS SHAPE: Butyl bladder for best air retention
- REQUIRES INFLATION: Ships flat, pump not included
What restrictions followed the takeover?
The EFL said Sheffield Wednesday would remain subject to a budget restriction for the next two seasons. New player registrations must comply with a business plan agreed with the league. The administrators separately said wage and transfer parameters had been agreed with the EFL.
These conditions concern spending and player registration. They are not proof that staff or players have received each wage payment on schedule. The EFL also said it exercised discretion under its Insolvency Policy when the club left administration; BBC Sport reported that a 15-point deduction was not imposed.

- Regulation-size soccer ball

How to distinguish the sale from the wage question
- Sale status: Completed in May 2026; Chansiri’s ownership ended.
- Historic payroll: EFL charges and the later disciplinary record document missed or late wage payments in 2025.
- Payment after administration began: Administrators reported that players and staff received full wages a day early on 30 October 2025.
- Post-sale budget rules: EFL restrictions and agreed parameters govern spending and registrations, but do not show whether a particular payday was met.
- Current payroll timing: Not established by the available reporting for 2026/27.
For a reader assessing the club’s present financial position, the key distinction is between regulatory controls and evidence of actual payments. A budget plan can limit spending, but only a current club, administrator, league or directly sourced report can verify whether wages arrived on time.
