What was Gus Hamer’s market value?
Transfermarkt’s player page showed Hamer’s market value as €14.00 million. Transfermarkt says that figure was last updated on 28 May 2026. It is an estimate, not an official EFL valuation or a transfer fee.
The date matters: this is the value displayed at that snapshot, not a live October 2026 ranking. And it should not be read as the amount Coventry City paid to sign him.
Where did Hamer rank among Championship players?
On the same player page, Transfermarkt listed Hamer at 24th in its Championship ranking. That rank belongs with the page’s €14 million estimate and its 28 May 2026 update date.

Transfermarkt’s separate 2025/26 season top-values table instead listed him ninth at €16.00 million. The two figures and placements come from different snapshots or tables; the season-table placement should not be paired with the player-page estimate, or vice versa.
Why the Sheffield United framing is historical
Hamer’s valuation-era club context was Sheffield United, but he had left by the time of the later transfer report. BBC Sport reported on 11 August 2026 that he rejoined Coventry City on a long-term contract. The fee was undisclosed, so neither Transfermarkt figure establishes what Coventry paid.

BBC Sport reports that Hamer recorded 22 goals and 29 assists in 123 appearances in all competitions for Sheffield United. Those are career totals for his Blades spell, not a direct measure of market value.

In his earlier spell at Coventry, Hamer scored 19 goals in 132 appearances, according to BBC Sport. The report also says he was named the club’s player of the year in 2021–22. After returning, Hamer said: “To go to the Premier League with Coventry was something I always dreamt of so when the club came back in for me, it was very special so I’m very happy.”

- A rank needs its snapshot. The 24th-place ranking belongs to the player page updated on 28 May 2026; ninth belongs to a separate 2025/26 season table.
- A market value is not a fee. BBC Sport reported that the fee for Hamer’s return to Coventry was undisclosed.
