Who is SentinelOne’s new CTO?
Jeff Reed is SentinelOne’s new chief technology officer. CRN describes him as a former Google Cloud, Cisco and Symantec executive who most recently served as chief product officer at Vectra AI. Reed said, “I’m so excited to join the SentinelOne team—amazing technology, people and opportunity!”
What will Reed oversee at SentinelOne?
SentinelOne says Reed’s remit includes technical vision and platform execution, innovation, scale, resilience and customer-driven outcomes. His engineering responsibilities cover four areas:
- Endpoint security
- Cloud security
- AI SIEM
- Exposure management
The company characterized the hire as “a force multiplier” for its customers, partners and platform. The announcement describes leadership priorities, not a quantified roadmap or a schedule of upcoming releases.

How Reed’s prior roles relate to the job
Google Cloud
Reed spent more than three years at Google Cloud and most recently served as vice president of cloud security. CRN credits him with work on major security-portfolio advances from 2020 to 2024, including the unification of Chronicle, Mandiant and core cloud security.
Cisco
He spent nearly a decade at Cisco, including roles as senior vice president of product for the security business and senior vice president of enterprise networks. CRN says his responsibilities covered $15 billion in Cisco products.
Symantec
Reed held senior leadership positions at Symantec for more than nine years. He left in 2010 as vice president and general manager of clustered storage.
Vectra AI
Immediately before joining SentinelOne, Reed was Vectra AI’s chief product officer, adding recent product-leadership experience to a career spanning security, cloud and enterprise networking.

What the appointment indicates—and what it does not
Reed’s experience combines cloud-security portfolio work, enterprise security and networking leadership, and product management. That background fits SentinelOne’s stated need for technical execution across multiple platform areas. It does not, by itself, establish that the company will launch a particular product, change its roadmap or achieve a specific customer or performance outcome.
The appointment announcement provides no quantified roadmap, customer-impact metric, product launch schedule, market-share figure or comparative performance data. It identifies the areas Reed is expected to oversee, but not how SentinelOne will measure progress in them.
