The companies described it as one of the largest investments to date in cloud physical security; that ranking is their characterization, not an independently established comparison. The two companies later announced a merger under the Brivo name in December 2025.
What did SECOM announce?
SECOM CO., LTD’s May 17, 2023 announcement said it was making a total of $192 million in primary equity investment across the two companies. The announced allocations were:

What were the companies planning to do with the investment?
Eagle Eye Networks: analytics and global operations
Eagle Eye said it planned to continue developing AI analytics, including Smart Video Search, Smart Alarms, and Vehicle Intelligence, and to expand its worldwide operations. These were stated plans in 2023; the announcement alone does not establish which plans were completed or what results followed.

Brivo: product development and expansion
Brivo said it intended to accelerate product development, sales and marketing, operations, and geographic expansion; expand smart-space and AI functionality; and evaluate strategic acquisitions. Those intentions should not be read as confirmation that acquisitions or other planned outcomes occurred.
The announcement framed the companies’ work around complementary areas: video surveillance and analytics at Eagle Eye, access control and smart spaces at Brivo, and shared cloud and integration strategies. That is a description of their 2023 announcement, not a present-day product comparison.

What did SECOM and the executives say?
SECOM’s announcement attributed this statement to Dean Drako, then Eagle Eye Networks’ CEO and Brivo’s chairman: “The SECOM investment underscores that cloud and AI are the future of physical security.” It attributed this statement to Sadahiro Sato, SECOM Managing Executive Officer: “We’re committed to delivering services and systems that deliver safety, peace of mind and business efficiency.” These are statements from the companies’ announcement, rather than independent assessments of security outcomes or investment performance. What is the companies’ status now?
Brivo and Eagle Eye Networks announced on December 29, 2025 that they would merge under the Brivo name. Their announcement described a unified cloud-native physical-security platform spanning AI, access control, video intelligence, visitor management, and intrusion. Accordingly, the 2023 description of the businesses as independent applies to the date of that investment announcement, not their current status as described in the later announcement.
