Avante is a Seattle-based startup that sells AI-powered benefits intelligence software to employers. It says its platform helps employees understand the benefits available to them and helps HR teams analyze how benefits programs perform. Avante publicly launched on April 8, 2025, with a $10 million seed round reported by GeekWire.

What Avante does

Avante describes its product as “benefits intelligence”: software that connects benefits documents and data, then uses AI agents to help employees and benefits teams make sense of them. The company says people can access the platform through workplace tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, email, ServiceNow, and Workday. These are Avante’s descriptions of its product and supported channels.

Carly: employee benefits guidance

Carly is Avante’s employee-facing agent. Avante says employees can ask personalized questions about their benefits and receive guidance based on their employer’s information. The intended use is to make existing benefits easier to understand and navigate—not to replace the employee’s plan, insurer, or benefits administrator.

Ava: analysis for HR and benefits leaders

Ava is designed for HR and benefits teams. Avante says it analyzes information across benefits programs and provides strategic insights, including ways to assess program performance and identify opportunities. The company’s public materials do not establish how those analyses are validated or what data and implementation work are required for a particular employer.

How Avante differs from benefits administration and care navigation

Avante says it is neither a benefits administration and enrollment system nor a care-navigation service. Those distinctions matter: benefits administration typically covers operational tasks such as eligibility, enrollment, and plan changes, while care navigation helps people find or coordinate care. Avante positions itself as a layer for answering benefits questions and analyzing program information, intended to complement those other systems.

GeekWire named Workday, ADP, Deel, and Rippling as companies in the broader benefits-management software competitive landscape. That does not establish that each company offers the same product category as Avante. Employers evaluating options should compare function rather than assume that products grouped under “benefits software” are interchangeable.

Launch, leadership, and funding

Avante announced its public launch on April 8, 2025. Its launch announcement said research and development began in late 2023 and named Datavant, OneDigital, Real Chemistry, and Zscaler as companies it had worked with during development; the announcement does not establish that every one of them was a customer.

GeekWire reported that Avante had 25 employees and a handful of enterprise clients at launch. It also reported a $10 million seed round raised in 2024 and led by Fuse Venture Partners, with Ascend, HighSage Ventures, and angel investors participating. Avante declined to share revenue metrics with GeekWire.

Avante lists Rohan D’Souza as CEO, Dr. Carly Eckert as Head of Innovation and Impact, and Kabir Shahani as Executive Chairman and founder. GeekWire reported that D’Souza had been chief product officer at Olive AI, Eckert an executive vice president there, and Shahani had previously led Amperity.

OneDigital partnership and reported adoption

On June 4, 2025, Avante and OneDigital announced a partnership to offer Carly to employers through OneDigital’s client base. OneDigital describes itself as an insurance brokerage, financial services, and HR consulting firm, making the arrangement an example of distribution through a benefits adviser rather than only direct employer sales.

In their partnership announcements, Avante and OneDigital reported that an internal OneDigital deployment saved more than 2,000 hours and received a 93% satisfaction rating. These are company-reported figures; the announcements do not provide independent auditing details or a full measurement methodology.

What the performance claims show—and what they do not

Avante’s 2025 launch announcement reported a 40% decrease in HR workload, employee engagement seven times industry standards, and a path to reducing overall benefits program costs by 3%. The release does not provide methodology that would allow those figures to be independently validated, and the cost figure is described as a path rather than a measured reduction.

Avante’s current company pages also publish figures including 42 seconds to answer strategic questions, 97% of benefits inquiries resolved, and 93% employee satisfaction. The reviewed company materials do not establish the measurement context for those numbers. They should therefore be read as company-published claims, not independent evidence of typical results.

The launch announcement quotes Dene Sparrman, identified there as Zscaler’s Global Head of Benefits: “In all my years leading benefits, I’ve never met a company that’s doing what Avante does,” This is an endorsement carried in Avante’s own release, not an independent product evaluation.

What employers should examine before adopting it

For an employer, the practical question is not simply whether an AI assistant can answer benefits questions. It is whether the product fits existing systems, produces dependable answers from current plan information, and improves the employee and HR experience enough to justify the cost and implementation effort. The public materials reviewed do not provide a feature-by-feature comparison, independent security audit, or detailed outcome study.

  • Role in the technology stack: Confirm which administration, enrollment, and care-navigation tools remain in place and what Avante is expected to do alongside them.
  • Data and integrations: Ask which documents and systems are connected, how data is refreshed, and what configuration is needed for each workplace channel.
  • Answer quality and escalation: Establish how the system handles ambiguous or outdated plan language, and when a question should go to HR, an insurer, or another human support channel.
  • Employer analytics: Ask what data supports Ava’s recommendations, how results are measured, and whether the analysis distinguishes meaningful trends from incomplete information.
  • Security and compliance: Request the relevant security and privacy documentation for the employer’s data and use case; the cited public materials do not establish an independent audit.
  • Evidence and economics: Request definitions, baselines, time periods, and measurement methods behind any expected workload, engagement, satisfaction, or cost improvements. Compare the total cost with the expected value for the employer.

What Avante’s launch means for employees

Avante’s pitch is that employees can get clearer answers about benefits through tools they already use, while HR teams gain a way to analyze benefits-program information. That could make an employer’s existing benefits easier to use, but the public performance figures do not establish what a typical employee or employer will experience. For an employee, Avante’s availability and the answers it can provide depend on whether the employer adopts it and what benefits information is connected.
