Seattle-based game developer Starform announced a $6 million funding round on November 12, 2024, led by BITKRAFT Ventures with participation from Dune Ventures. The studio said it would use the money to expand its development team and reach more players for Metalstorm, its team-based air-combat game. GeekWire reported that the round took Starform’s funding total to more than $13 million at the time.
What Starform’s $6 million raise funded
Starform described the financing as a way to grow the team building Metalstorm and expand the game’s reach. The company is a Seattle-based independent studio led by CEO Lou Fasulo and co-founders Taylor Daynes and Jason English, according to its November 2024 announcement coverage by GeekWire.

GeekWire reported that BITKRAFT Ventures led the round and Dune Ventures also invested. Its report said Starform had raised more than $13 million in total after the financing, including earlier rounds in 2019 and 2021. Those are announcement-era figures, not a statement of the company’s current capitalization.
What Metalstorm is—and what it is not
Starform calls Metalstorm an air-combat arena shooter. It is a 5v5 multiplayer game built around short sessions, with aircraft whose abilities draw on historical roles. The studio described it as its first “coffee break esport” and said players can form Squadrons, or guilds. This is an accessible, team-based action game, not a claim of rigorous flight-simulation fidelity.
#1 Best Overall
In the November 2024 announcement, CEO Lou Fasulo said, “We believe in crafting short-session experiences that unite players across platforms.” BITKRAFT founding partner Malte Barth said the studio’s vision for accessible, cross-platform competitive multiplayer was compelling.
Audience and platforms at the time of the raise
Starform reported more than 3 million Metalstorm players as of its November 2024 announcement, across the Epic Games Store, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store. That was a company-reported figure; the announcement does not establish an independently audited count.
The 2024 platform list matters because the studio’s later plans changed. It should not be read as a current platform inventory.

What later updates say
In a September 23, 2026 interview, PocketGamer.biz reported that Fasulo put the game’s player figure at 15 million. That is his attributed figure, not an independently verified total. The interview also said a Steam launch had been announced for autumn 2026. A June 2026 Steam community update describing new aircraft system upgrades and Flight Pass content indicates ongoing game operations, but it does not by itself confirm that the Steam launch occurred.
