Seattle-based Accipiter Biosciences, known as Accipiter Bio, announced its emergence from stealth on November 6, 2025, with a $12.7 million seed round. GeekWire later reported that the company added $10.5 million from existing investors in July 2026, bringing disclosed seed financing to $23.2 million by simple addition—not a separately announced company total. Accipiter is developing computationally designed protein medicines, with stated early priorities in autoimmunity and oncology.

What Accipiter Bio does

Accipiter is a biotechnology company, not a consumer AI business. It says it combines computational design with high-throughput laboratory experiments to create de novo multifunctional biologics: proteins designed from scratch rather than adapted from naturally occurring proteins. The aim is to put multiple therapeutic mechanisms into one molecule.

The company’s thesis is that a single molecule capable of coordinating several actions could sometimes offer an alternative to combining separate drugs. Accipiter co-founder and CEO Matthew Bick has argued that drug combinations can be costly and difficult to evaluate, and that separate drugs may move through the body differently. That is a development rationale, not evidence that Accipiter’s medicines are safer or more effective.

Accipiter’s November 2025 announcement said its computational design-to-laboratory process could take less than two months. That is the company’s claim, not an independently established benchmark. In a 2026 GeekWire interview, Bick cautioned against treating AI-assisted design as automatic: “There’s an impression with AI methods that you can just hit a button and you get your molecule out, but it’s not that easy — and certainly when you’re pushing the methods to their limits, it’s really not that easy,”

LAB FISH VP-10L Lab Vacuum Filtration Pump, 10L/min
  • 【FILTER IN SECONDS】Filtration can be a pain, taking hours using gravity alone. Our lab vacuum pump, which works at 10L/min, can accomplish the same job in seconds - even with highly viscous liquids. The vacuum pump can save hours in the lab and let you run more experiments - or produce more product. Many of our customers use our lab filtration pump for essential oils, e-juice, home-brewing and more
  • 【OIL FREE】Many other pumps need their oil changed after only 12 hours of use. And cheaper models are also notoriously weak and unreliable. The LABFISH vacuum pump uses a powerful, 0.075Mpa oilless small diaphragm pump, which means it isn’t messy and doesn’t need regular maintenance. The pump can pull a vacuum strong enough for most lab or industrial work
  • 【ANTI-SLIP】The unique base design, containing four special rubber anti-slip pads, can be steadily fixed on the workbench to prevent the machine from shaking and run more quietly and steadily
  • 【COMPACT DESIGN】The small vacuum pump is compact and easy to store when not in use. It is built with sturdy lab-quality materials meant to last for years. The oilless design also guarantees that oil from the pump won’t contaminate your work - a risk in many pumps
  • 【APPLICATIONS】Can be used wildly in aerator, nitrogen blower, solid phase extractor, thin layer color developing spray, solvent filter, air sampler and other vacuum pressure need. There are more uses in life. When you need to use a vacuum storage bag with a valve to store food or items, you will find it very convenient

What its pipeline is intended to target

Accipiter’s current pipeline page describes work in autoimmunity and oncology. It does not identify specific candidates or provide clinical results.

Autoimmunity

The company describes targeted agonist delivery intended to modulate regulatory T-cell activity. This is a design goal; the public description does not establish a therapeutic effect in patients.

Oncology

Accipiter says it is pursuing precisely tunable molecules intended to avoid systemic toxicity. That is also an intended property, not a reported safety finding.

Funding and investors

Accipiter announced $12.7 million in seed financing when it emerged from stealth on November 6, 2025. The round was co-led by Takeda and Flying Fish Partners. The company listed Columbus Venture Partners, Cercano Capital, Washington Research Foundation, Alexandria Investments, Pack Ventures, and Argonautic Ventures as participants.

  • DURABLE TITANIUM ALLOY PROBES: Engineered for longevity and biocompatibility, our high-efficiency probes are corrosion-resistant and lightweight. Perfect for cell disruption, dispersion, and emulsification in demanding lab environments

On July 31, 2026, GeekWire reported that Accipiter added $10.5 million to the seed round, with existing investors participating. Adding the two publicly reported amounts gives $23.2 million in disclosed seed financing. That calculated figure should not be confused with a separately announced cumulative total.

GeekWire said the additional financing would help the company move candidates forward, expand its team, and pursue three or four in-house programs toward clinical trials. Those are reported plans, not confirmation that any program has entered a trial.

What the Pfizer and Kite agreements involve

Accipiter announced a Pfizer research collaboration and license agreement. The company said the deal included an upfront payment and potential milestones exceeding $330 million, plus royalties. The milestone amount is contingent potential value—not money already received or guaranteed. The public announcement does not identify the targets or resulting candidates.

Accipiter also announced a multitarget agreement with Kite Pharma to generate molecules against targets of interest for cell therapies. Kite may acquire selected molecules for worldwide therapeutic development. Accipiter described upfront and potential milestone payments and royalties, but did not disclose amounts. The public descriptions do not establish which molecules, if any, have been selected.

Are Accipiter’s drugs in clinical trials?

The available public information does not establish that an Accipiter candidate is in a human trial. Its November 2025 announcement said the company intended to advance up to two programs to pre-IND, while GeekWire reported in July 2026 that it planned to move three or four programs toward clinical trials. The company’s pipeline page provides no candidate names, trial registrations, patient outcomes, or efficacy data.

GeekWire reported that Accipiter’s founders had worked at Neoleukin, whose lead engineered-protein cancer candidate underperformed in a Phase 1 trial. That history is relevant context for the risks of engineered-protein drug development, but it does not predict how Accipiter’s distinct candidates will perform.

What the funding and partnerships do—and do not—show

The financing gives Accipiter resources to develop its platform and programs, and the Pfizer and Kite agreements show that established pharmaceutical companies have entered research collaborations with it. Those are meaningful business developments, but they do not demonstrate clinical benefit. The central uncertainty remains whether the company can turn designed molecules into medicines that prove safe and effective in people.

For primary company descriptions, see Accipiter’s pipeline page and its company site. The funding updates and development plans were reported by GeekWire in July 2026; the original stealth and financing announcement was also covered by GeekWire in November 2025.
