He bought the ticket at Lucky Charm Gwelup. This is a historical news report, not a notice about a current winner or unclaimed prize.
Who claimed the $1.2 million Saturday Lotto prize?
PerthNow reported that the winner was a man from Perth’s north. The article did not name him, identify his ticket or give the date he claimed the prize. It said the draw had taken place two weeks earlier, but did not specify its exact date.
The winner told PerthNow: “I just about collapsed,” he said. He also described keeping winnings in a small container: “I have a small container where I put my winnings, but after this win, I think I’m going to need a bigger container.”
PerthNow’s report, published 7 October 2024, is the source for the winner and prize details.

Other lottery prizes mentioned in the report
The same article included two separate WA lottery items. Neither is the $1.2 million claim:
- $401,209: PerthNow said a ticket bought at Capel Newsagency was unclaimed at the time of its October 2024 report. That is the ticket’s historical status in the article; it does not establish whether anyone has claimed it since.
- $518,364: The article separately reported that a Mandurah man had claimed this prize in connection with the 28 September draw.
What Lotterywest said about recent winners
PerthNow attributed a broader October 2024 update to Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney. He said, “Most of these 10 wins have come from Saturday Lotto, but we have also celebrated two Set for Life wins, along with a Millionaire Medley winner.” The figure of 10 referred to division-one wins in the preceding month as described in that report, not a current total.
