Read the result for the specific period you are checking: a pending status is not an approval or a decline, and an approval does not necessarily mean payment has been processed. SASSA’s available status guide uses legacy R350 terminology, so treat its labels and routes as guidance and follow the live official interface for current steps.
How to check your SASSA SRD status

Open SASSA’s official SRD service and use the status-check option presented on the live site. Avoid third-party pages that imitate the service.

Follow the prompts in that interface to view your application or period result. Use only the official service when entering personal information.

Read the exact status and, where shown, the period, reason, payday, or next-step prompt. SRD results can vary by period, so do not assume a result for one period settles another.

SASSA’s PDF status guide is titled “Social Relief of Distress Grant of R350 application status” and may not reflect every current label or workflow. It describes the outcomes below; if the live service presents different wording or directions, follow the current official instructions.
What each status means and what to do
| Status shown in SASSA’s guide | What it means | Next step described in the guide |

| Application complete | The reapplication is complete; the applicant will be verified each month. | Check verification and payment status monthly. |
| Bank details pending | SASSA received an application or reapplication but did not receive bank details or preferences. | Submit banking details through the official website, following its current prompts. |
| Reapplication pending | The guide says SASSA has not received a reapplication. | Submit an application through the official website if the live service instructs you to. |
| Period Pending | Verification for that particular period is still pending. | Check back later in the month for an update. |
| Period Approved | The application is approved for that particular period. | Look for payday information. The guide says a blank payday field means payment has not yet been processed. |
| Period Declined | The application was declined for that period, with a reason provided. | Read the reason. If you believe it is invalid, consult the current official reconsideration process. |
| Canceled | The grant is cancelled. | The guide describes a reinstatement route; use the live official service to check whether and how reinstatement can be requested. |
These labels and actions are taken from SASSA’s status guide, which uses legacy R350 terminology. In particular, use the current official route for reconsideration or reinstatement rather than relying on an older path in the PDF.
What to do with a pending, approved, or declined result
If the period is pending
Pending means a decision for that period has not yet been recorded in the guide’s terms. It is not the same as approval or decline. SASSA’s guide advises checking back later in the month; check the official interface again for an update.
If the period is approved
Check the payday field in the official interface. Under the guide’s wording, if no payday appears, payment has not yet been processed. Use the live service for any current payment instructions.

If the period is declined
Review the reason shown for that period. If you think it is wrong, use the current official reconsideration process available through SASSA’s service. The status guide supports requesting reconsideration but its specific route may be outdated.
Where to get help from SASSA
SASSA’s contact page lists 0800 60 10 11 and 012 400 2322 for head office contact. The page says the toll-free number can provide information about application outcomes, payout dates, qualifying rules, district offices, and other grant matters. Calls to 0800 60 10 11 are toll-free from landlines; mobile calls may incur charges. Check SASSA’s contact page for current details.
Protect your personal and banking information
SASSA’s SRD consent document says applicant information, including financial status and bank account details, may be processed and verified with relevant institutions for grant assessment. Submit information only through SASSA’s official channels. Do not post your ID number or bank details publicly, or give one-time codes to unofficial helpers.

The status guide does not establish current SRD eligibility rules or the current grant amount. SASSA’s general grants-information page covers several grants but does not resolve those SRD details. Check SASSA’s live official SRD information for current eligibility and payment rules rather than relying on legacy R350 material.
