That headline described a genuine Samsung US promotion, but it is not a verified live deal today. Laptop Mag reported the prices on September 11, 2024, during Samsung’s Discover Samsung fall sale. Samsung’s US offers page, checked August 18, 2026, prominently featured newer Galaxy Book5 and Galaxy Book6 models instead. Treat the figures below as historical reference prices, not an offer you can assume is available at checkout.
What the 2024 promotion actually offered
The promotion covered five Intel-based Galaxy Book4 families on Samsung.com in the United States. Laptop Mag listed these prices without requiring a trade-in, although exact configuration, inventory and checkout terms could vary.

How much did you save without trading in a device?
“Up to $650” referred to selected configurations, not every Book4 model or specification. The no-trade-in reduction and a trade-in credit were separate benefits.

- Galaxy Book4 360: $350 off without a trade-in; the article cited up to $500 when a qualifying device was traded in.
- Galaxy Book4 Pro: approximately $350 in instant credit in the listed offer; trade-in savings could reach $500.
- Galaxy Book4 Pro 360: $650 instant discount, compared with $500 through the referenced trade-in route.
- Galaxy Book4 Ultra: $650 instant credit, compared with $600 through the cited trade-in route.
Those comparisons explain why the Pro 360 and Ultra were unusually attractive without a trade-in. They do not establish a current discount, and they do not mean every storage, memory, screen-size or color option received the maximum amount.
The five Intel Galaxy Book4 choices
Galaxy Book4: the budget choice
The deal configuration used a 15.6-inch FHD display, Intel Core 7 150U, 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD, with integrated Intel graphics. It is suited to documents, browsers, video calls, streaming and ordinary schoolwork. Integrated graphics are not the right foundation for demanding games, serious video production or color-critical design.

Galaxy Book4 360: affordable AMOLED flexibility
This 15.6-inch convertible adds a 360-degree hinge and FHD AMOLED touchscreen to the Core 7 150U, 16GB/512GB platform. It supports an S Pen, but the pen was sold separately in the reported deal configuration. Choose it when tablet mode, handwriting or an OLED screen matters more than maximum performance.
Galaxy Book4 Pro: premium clamshell portability
Depending on configuration, the Pro has a 14- or 16-inch 3K AMOLED display, Intel Core Ultra 5 or Ultra 7, Intel Arc graphics, 16GB or 32GB of RAM and a 512GB or 1TB SSD. A 1080p webcam and premium speakers round out the package. Intel Arc is a meaningful step above basic integrated graphics for light creative work and less-demanding games, but it is not a substitute for a discrete gaming GPU.

Galaxy Book4 Pro 360: the premium 2-in-1
The 16-inch model combines a 3K AMOLED touchscreen, 360-degree hinge, Core Ultra 7 and Intel Arc graphics. Listed configurations reached 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, and the historical deal configuration included an S Pen. It is the strongest Book4 option for note-taking, drawing, presentations and large-screen media use, with the usual convertible trade-off of greater weight and cost.
Galaxy Book4 Ultra: the only discrete-GPU step up
The Ultra uses a 16-inch 3K AMOLED touchscreen, Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 9 and Nvidia graphics. The configuration highlighted in the deal carried an RTX 4050, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, with an S Pen included. That RTX chip is the relevant upgrade for GPU-accelerated creative applications and entry-level gaming. The Ultra is heavier, more expensive and unnecessary for routine office work.

Why Galaxy Book4 Edge is not in this Intel list
“Book4” branding does not guarantee an Intel processor. Galaxy Book4 Edge models use Qualcomm Snapdragon hardware, while the five models above use Intel Core or Core Ultra processors. Confirm the processor on the product page before comparing prices. Samsung’s comparison page identifies the platform differences: Galaxy Book comparison.
Reference MSRPs are not the same as a sale price
Samsung’s December 2024 notebook MSRP file gives useful reference points, but the listed configurations do not always match Laptop Mag’s September deal configurations. Examples include a 15.6-inch Core 7/16GB/512GB Book4 at $999.99, a Core 5 Book4 at $899.99, a Core 7 Book4 360 at $1,449.99, a 14-inch Core Ultra 7/16GB/1TB Book4 Pro at $1,749.99 and a 16-inch Core Ultra 7/32GB/1TB Pro 360 at $2,199.99. Compare model numbers and specifications rather than assuming two products with the same family name are identical. The reference file is Samsung’s December 2024 MSRP list.

Should you buy a Galaxy Book4 in 2026?
Only if a verified retailer has the exact configuration at a price that compensates for its age. Samsung’s June 2026 MSRP document lists newer Intel generations, including Book5 and Book6 systems. It shows Book5 360 pricing at $1,549.99, Book5 Pro models from $1,549.99, and Book6 Pro models from $1,699.99 to $2,249.99; these are MSRP references, not necessarily today’s checkout prices. See the June 2026 MSRP file.
For current inventory, start with Samsung’s US offers page and Galaxy Book catalog. Those pages can replace discontinued Book4 listings with newer models, show configuration-specific prices and attach date or “while supplies last” conditions. A lower Book4 price may be clearance stock rather than a broad promotion.
Checklist before placing an order
- Check the date and seller. Confirm you are on Samsung’s US site or an authorized seller; do not rely on a redirected old deal link.
- Select the complete configuration. Verify processor, screen size, RAM, SSD capacity, color and included pen. The headline discount may apply to one configuration only.
- Test the cart price. Some credits appear only after selecting a configuration or adding the laptop to the cart. Confirm the price before tax and shipping.
- Read eligibility terms. Look for Samsung-account, education, military, employee, coupon or trade-in requirements. Do not combine trade-in credit with a no-trade-in discount in your calculation.
- Check inventory and returns. An old product page can remain online after stock is gone. Review the warranty category (consumer, business or refurbished) and return conditions.
- Account for promotional items. Samsung terms can require promotional gifts or credits to be returned or repaid if the qualifying laptop is returned; current terms are on the offers page.
Which one makes financial sense?
- Choose the Book4 when the lowest total cost is the priority and your work is browser- and document-heavy.
- Choose the Book4 360 when pen support, tablet mode and AMOLED viewing justify the premium.
- Choose the Book4 Pro for a lighter premium feel, sharper display and stronger integrated graphics without a 2-in-1 hinge.
- Choose the Pro 360 for a large OLED convertible and frequent handwriting or presentation use.
- Choose the Ultra only when an RTX GPU materially benefits your creative or gaming workload; otherwise its extra weight and price reduce its value.
For any model, 16GB of RAM is the sensible floor and a 512GB SSD is a practical minimum. A 1TB configuration is preferable for large projects, games and media libraries. Samsung phone and tablet owners may value ecosystem features, but confirm that the relevant Windows and Samsung software versions support the functions you need.
Bottom line on the “save $650” headline
The September 2024 Samsung promotion was real, and its best no-trade-in reductions were $650 on specific Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 and Galaxy Book4 Ultra configurations. It is not evidence of a live August or October 2026 sale. Check Samsung’s current Book5 and Book6 listings, then compare the exact configuration, final cart price, warranty and return terms before deciding whether an older Book4 clearance unit is genuinely cheaper.
