The watch’s $649.99 list price fell to $324.99 only with the promotion’s maximum $325 trade-in discount. A smartwatch trade-in reportedly earned at least $215, bringing the price to $434.99 instead. Samsung’s current offer pages show different amounts, so check the live checkout rather than relying on the old headline.
How the 2025 deal added up
The original report described a promotion for the first-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra, then priced at $649.99 in the US. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP sheet still lists $649.99 for Galaxy Watch Ultra LTE variants, which supports the arithmetic but does not mean the 2025 offer is still active. Droid Life’s May 26, 2025 report gave these outcomes:
| Scenario | Reported discount | Price from $649.99 list |
|---|---|---|
| No trade-in | None | $649.99 |
| Minimum qualifying smartwatch trade-in | $215 | $434.99 |
| Maximum qualifying trade-in | $325 | $324.99 |
The $325 maximum discount was exactly half of the $649.99 list price. The headline therefore meant “as low as half price with the top trade-in credit,” not an automatic half-price coupon.
What trade-in was needed?
The 2025 report said Samsung’s selector included watches from Samsung, Apple, Google and Garmin, along with an “Other” category that reportedly received the $215 minimum credit. The report tied the maximum $325 discount to the trade-in model and its value; it did not establish that every smartwatch qualified for the top amount. Treat those categories and credits as terms of that reported promotion, not a standing Samsung policy.

Samsung’s current wearable offers and trade-in terms say eligibility and values can change. Current stated conditions include that the submitted watch powers on, holds a charge and has a working display; it must meet damage, blacklist and FCC ID requirements, be owned by the customer, and have personal data removed and software locks disabled. Check the terms displayed for the actual offer before ordering.
Is the half-price deal available now?
The May 2025 price is not verified as a current promotion. Samsung’s accessible US offer pages show different present-day trade-in signals: its featured offers page lists up to $250 in instant trade-in credit or $200 off without trade-in for the Galaxy Watch Ultra, while its dedicated wearable offers page lists up to $200 in trade-in credit. These page amounts differ, so the product configuration, eligible trade-in, location and live checkout matter. The Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) product page has also shown a $549.99 snapshot price against $649.99; that snapshot does not establish the old $324.99 deal.
Samsung’s pages and prices can change. Treat the final checkout price and itemized trade-in credit as controlling, and do not count on the historical promotion unless checkout explicitly offers those terms.

How to assess a trade-in’s real value
A large advertised credit is not automatically the best deal if the old watch could be sold for more. Compare the cost of the purchase after the confirmed Samsung credit with the amount you could reasonably net from another sale. Include taxes, any carrier activation or wireless-plan costs, shipping, and any replacement band you need. A useful comparison is:
Effective cost = checkout price − confirmed trade-in credit + taxes and other purchase costs − likely net proceeds from selling the old watch elsewhere.
If you would have to buy a watch just to trade it in, or surrender a device with meaningful resale value, the headline percentage may overstate your savings. For the 2025 offer, a buyer receiving only the reported minimum credit would have paid $434.99 before tax, not $324.99.

Reduce the risk of a trade-in chargeback
Samsung’s current terms generally require the old device to be sent within 15 days of receiving the new purchase. They also permit Samsung to charge back the anticipated credit if the device is late or fails eligibility checks, subject to the applicable terms. The precise terms attached to a live order govern; the current policy should not be assumed to reproduce the 2025 promotion’s rules.
- Before ordering: Select the exact trade-in model and inspect the estimated credit and eligibility conditions in checkout.
- Before shipping: Back up the watch, remove personal information, factory-reset it, disable account or software locks, and unpair it from your phone.
- Document its condition: Photograph the watch and display, and keep any requested shipment or trade-in records.
- Meet the deadline: Send it within the deadline in your order’s terms; Samsung’s current terms state 15 days after receipt.
- Keep proof: Save the tracking number and confirmation until Samsung completes its assessment.
Samsung generally limits a qualifying purchase to one trade-in, and trade-ins may not combine with other promotions unless the terms say otherwise. Check whether a return of the new watch changes the trade-in transaction before purchasing; the available terms here do not establish a universal return outcome.

The Ultra is a premium, 47mm LTE-oriented watch with a large form factor and rugged positioning. It may make sense if those features are what you want and the confirmed price fits your budget. Check the selected model’s cellular requirements: an LTE-capable watch may involve carrier activation or a wireless plan beyond the watch’s purchase price.

Those are page-listed maximums, not guaranteed credits or final prices. Compare the actual checkout totals for the model and trade-in you would use.
Verdict
The deal was real as reported in May 2025, but only a buyer receiving the maximum $325 trade-in credit could reach $324.99—about half off the $649.99 list price. Samsung’s current offer pages show different, lower maximum credits and do not verify that historical price today. Make the decision from the current checkout total and the value of the watch you would give up, not from “50% off” alone.
