The 256GB model was listed at $1,049.99 after the reduction, with no trade-in required. That was a dated promotion—not a price you should assume is available from Samsung now. The original deal link no longer verifies the offer and currently leads to a third-party Walmart marketplace listing. Droid Life’s December 30 report
What the $250 discount covered
The December 30, 2025 report described the offer as an immediate price reduction, not a trade-in credit. It said the discount covered the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, including online-exclusive colors such as Titanium Jetblack. Buyers did not need to trade in a phone or complete another qualifying action to get the reported $250 reduction. These details describe the promotion as reported at the time; the original live Samsung offer is no longer available to verify. Source: Droid Life
What the phone cost
| Configuration | Reported discount | Reported sale price |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB | $250 | $1,049.99 |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB | $250 | Not stated by the source |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 1TB | $250 | Not stated by the source |
The report’s $1,049.99 figure is the device price, not a tax-included total or a monthly financing amount. It implies a $1,299.99 price before the discount for the 256GB configuration; the source did not provide exact sale prices for the other storage tiers, so they should not be inferred. How the no-trade-in deal differed from trade-in offers
A direct reduction and a trade-in offer are not interchangeable. The reported $250 came off the price without requiring an old phone. A trade-in can produce a larger stated saving, but the value depends on the eligible device, its condition, and the seller’s terms; the credit may also be immediate, promotional, or spread across carrier bills.

Droid Life separately cited up to $700 off at the time for trading in a Galaxy S24 Ultra. That was a historical example from December 2025, not a current quote or a guaranteed credit. What the old deal link shows now
As observed on August 18, 2026, the deal link no longer lands on a live Samsung promotion. It resolves to a Walmart marketplace listing for an unlocked Galaxy S25 Ultra, where the displayed prices were $894.95 for 256GB and $959.99 for 512GB. The listing identified HotDeals—not Samsung—as the seller and shipper. It showed free shipping and free 15-day returns for the displayed location. These are volatile listing details, not enduring terms or proof of the original Samsung discount. View the Walmart listing

A marketplace price may be worth considering, but it is a separate offer from Samsung-direct pricing. A lower number alone does not establish that the phone is the same U.S. retail model, that Samsung will handle warranty service, or that the seller’s return terms match Samsung’s. The displayed “was” price also should not be used to calculate the original promotion’s discount.
Is an S25 Ultra a sensible buy now?
A previous-generation Ultra can make financial sense when its current price is clearly below the newer model’s effective price and its features fit how you use a phone. The S25 Ultra may appeal if you value its S Pen, large display, high-end cameras, and place in Samsung’s ecosystem. But the old $250 promotion does not by itself establish good value today.

Compare the live total cost and the remaining software-support period, and weigh whether you need the S Pen or the newest processor and camera system. A high-value trade-in on a newer model could narrow the gap; conversely, a large cash discount may suit someone who wants to avoid trade-in conditions. The December 2025 article also characterized the S25 Ultra as a reasonable purchase ahead of the next generation, but that was the author’s judgment at the time, not a guarantee about later models. - Model and network: Check the model number and confirm U.S. carrier-band and eSIM compatibility; “unlocked” alone does not guarantee every carrier feature.
- Condition and storage: Confirm that the selected option is new, rather than open-box or restored, and that the storage capacity and color match your needs.
- Seller and warranty: Identify who sells and ships the phone, and confirm manufacturer warranty eligibility and U.S. coverage rather than assuming Samsung will handle service.
- Returns: Read the current return window, exceptions, and any restocking-fee policy. Listing terms can change.
- Final cost: Check the price before tax, shipping, and any activation requirement; compare it with current Samsung-direct, carrier, and newer-model offers using the same assumptions.
