Samsung has advertised up to $700 in instant trade-in credit for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but that is not a $700 discount available to every buyer. The more recently surfaced Samsung offer lists up to $520+ in trade-in credit, and the amount depends on the device you trade in. Without an eligible trade-in, the $700 figure does not apply.
Is Samsung really taking $700 off the Galaxy S25 Ultra?
Samsung has used “up to $700 instant trade-in credit” language for the S25 Ultra, but that maximum is conditional on trading in an eligible device. A separately advertised discount without trade-in is a different promotion. An earlier Samsung product-page offer showed up to $250 without trade-in; it does not establish that the discount is available now. Samsung’s more recently surfaced U.S. offers page lists up to $520+ in S25 Ultra trade-in credit, so check the current offer and your checkout total before treating $700 as available. Samsung’s S25 Ultra product page and Samsung’s phone-offers page reflect different promotional states.
Trade-in credit is not the same as a universal price cut. Carrier bill credits may depend on a carrier, installment plan, new line, or extended commitment; Samsung Financing is also subject to its own checkout terms and approval. Do not add these types of savings together unless the offer explicitly says they stack.
What could the phone cost?
The U.S. MSRP reference lists $1,299.99 for the 256GB Galaxy S25 Ultra. The table below shows simple arithmetic against that price, before tax; it is not a guaranteed checkout quote. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP price file is the source for the 256GB baseline.

| Scenario | Reduction | Approximate price before tax |
|---|---|---|
| 256GB MSRP | None | $1,299.99 |
| Earlier direct-discount example | $250 | $1,049.99 |
| Earlier direct-discount example | $300 | $999.99 |
| Maximum advertised trade-in example | $700 | $599.99 |
| More recently surfaced trade-in example | $520 | About $779.99 |
The $250 and $300 direct reductions appeared in separate, earlier promotion states, not as a promise of a current discount. Likewise, $599.99 assumes the full $700 trade-in credit against the 256GB MSRP; it is not a price every shopper can claim. The newer “up to $520+” wording is a maximum signal, not a quote for a particular phone.
Storage, color, inventory, configuration, account or customer eligibility, financing, and other discounts can change the checkout amount. Taxes may also be calculated differently depending on location and the transaction; check the tax line and subtotal rather than assuming the credit reduces every charge.

How to find your actual trade-in value
Samsung’s trade-in selector is the practical test: enter the exact device and condition and review the credit shown for your purchase. Values and eligibility can vary by model, storage, condition, carrier or unlocked status, whether the phone powers on, and the promotion in effect. Do not rely on a general “up to” headline as your personal quote.
- Open the Galaxy S25 Ultra purchase page or Samsung’s current offers page.
- Select the storage, color, and purchase configuration you want.
- Choose the trade-in option and enter your old phone’s model and condition as accurately as possible.
- Review the quoted credit, final subtotal, taxes, and any financing or promotion terms at checkout.
- Before accepting, read the current eligibility rules and shipping deadline in Samsung’s trade-in FAQs.
Samsung’s trade-in guidance says a device on an installment plan may be accepted only after its remaining payments are fully paid. Check with your carrier about any balance or obligation; trade-in acceptance does not itself settle that debt.

What can reduce or reverse the trade-in credit?
The surfaced Samsung offer terms require the old device to be shipped within 15 days after receiving the qualifying purchase and allow one trade-in per qualifying purchase. They also say Samsung may charge back the anticipated credit if the device is not received on time or fails eligibility requirements. Under the referenced terms, a failed eligibility check can result in a chargeback of the applied credit less a stated $25 amount. Terms can vary by offer, so read the terms attached to your own order. Samsung’s offers page contains the surfaced promotion terms.
Condition details matter. Damage, a device that will not power on, missing components, an activation lock, or a mismatch between the phone and the condition declared can affect whether Samsung grants the quoted value. Use Samsung’s current condition rules rather than assuming that a working phone automatically qualifies for the maximum.

Is the S25 Ultra worth buying now?
Samsung’s 2026 offers page lists the Galaxy S26 family as the newer generation, making the S25 Ultra a previous-generation flagship. The S25 Ultra may make sense if your actual checkout price is substantially lower and you want its built-in S Pen and Ultra camera hardware. Samsung lists a 200MP wide camera, 12MP front camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, and 5,000mAh battery; it also claims up to 31 hours of video playback under its stated testing conditions. That battery figure is Samsung’s claim, not a guarantee of everyday runtime. Samsung’s product page provides those specifications.
Compare the S25 Ultra’s final price with the S26 Ultra offer available to you, not just with the older phone’s MSRP. The newer model may better suit someone prioritizing current hardware or a longer remaining support period, while the S25 Ultra can be the better value if its discount is large enough and its features meet your needs. The surfaced material does not establish a current S26 Ultra price or a direct performance comparison, so use Samsung’s live listings for the price and specifications you are weighing.

Samsung’s surfaced promotions apply through Samsung.com and the Shop Samsung app. Samsung says it may modify or discontinue offers, and availability can vary by storage, color, inventory, and eligibility. Carrier and retailer deals were not established here, so compare their full terms separately—including any required plan, new line, installment, or bill-credit commitment—rather than treating them as equivalent to an unlocked-phone discount.
