Checked August 18, 2026: Samsung’s standard U.S. price is $799.99 for the unlocked 128GB Galaxy S25 and $899.99 for 256GB, before tax and shipping. The cheapest route depends on your trade-in, required wireless plan, and how long you will keep the phone and account.
Buy unlocked from Samsung if you value flexibility or may switch carriers. Consider a carrier promotion only when you qualify for its trade-in and plan requirements and expect to stay long enough to receive every bill credit. Carrier prices and promotions can change daily, so confirm the exact configuration and terms immediately before ordering.

What you are buying
This article covers the standard Galaxy S25—not the larger S25+, the higher-end S25 Ultra, the thinner S25 Edge, or the S25 FE. Samsung’s U.S. purchase pages show 128GB and 256GB configurations. Listed colors include Blueblack, Coralred, Pinkgold, Silver Shadow, Icyblue, Mint, and Navy, although availability varies by stock, channel, and online-exclusive status.

Best way to buy for each shopper
- Best for flexibility: Buy the unlocked model directly from Samsung and pay in full or use financing you can manage.
- Best for a qualified switcher: Use a carrier promotion if the required plan, trade-in, and bill-credit period still make sense over the full term.
- Best without a trade-in: Compare Samsung’s live unlocked price with ordinary carrier financing, not with a promotional price that requires credits.
- Best for heavy storage users: Choose 256GB if you record substantial video, keep large games or media offline, or plan to use the phone for several years.
- Best for the lowest upfront payment: A carrier installment plan may reduce what you pay today, but it can create a 24- or 36-month commitment.
Samsung unlocked: the clearest price comparison
Samsung’s unlocked purchase flow lets you choose storage, color, trade-in, payment method, and optional Samsung Care+. An unlocked phone is generally the simplest choice if you already have a compatible plan, may change carriers, travel, or want to avoid losing promotional credits after leaving a carrier.
Samsung displays several ways to pay:
- One-time payment: The full phone price, before taxes, shipping, and optional coverage.
- Samsung Financing: The pages checked showed about $33.34 per month for 24 months for 128GB and $37.50 per month for 24 months for 256GB. Verify the APR, term, credit approval, and final checkout amount.
- Pay-in-Four: The 128GB listing showed four payments of $200 every two weeks. That spreads payment timing; it does not reduce the phone’s price.
- Trade-in: Samsung’s indexed pages showed maximum values of up to $570 on one snapshot and $582 on another. The value depends on the old device, condition, promotion, and date.
Samsung Care+ is optional. One purchase-flow snapshot displayed Care+ at $5 per month or $119 for two years, and Care+ with Theft and Loss at $10 per month or $199 for two years. Confirm current pricing, deductibles, coverage, and exclusions before adding it.

Verizon
Samsung’s carrier purchase flow showed a Verizon 128GB configuration at $22.22 per month for 36 months at 0% APR. That payment schedule totals approximately $799.92—effectively the phone’s $799.99 retail price—not a discount or free phone.

Verizon may separately offer promotions involving an eligible unlimited plan, trade-in, new line, or bill credits. Those terms must be checked on the live Verizon offer page. Confirm the required plan, whether the offer is for a new line or upgrade, the device condition and trade-in list, credit duration, taxes, activation fees, and what happens if you change plans or leave.
Best for: Someone already satisfied with Verizon or someone who qualifies for a verified Verizon promotion and expects to remain for the entire credit period.
AT&T
AT&T’s product page displayed a promotional figure of $5.99 per month for the Galaxy S25 128GB. This is not an unconditional cash price. At least one version of the offer included eligible AT&T Business Unlimited language, so consumer shoppers must confirm whether they qualify.

Also compare the required AT&T plan with the cost of keeping a cheaper plan and buying the phone unlocked.

T-Mobile
No reliable current official T-Mobile Galaxy S25 price or promotion was established in the available source material. Check T-Mobile’s current Galaxy S25 page directly before treating any T-Mobile deal as available. Do not rely on an old deal roundup.
Retailers
Amazon, Best Buy, and Samsung-authorized retailers may also sell the phone, but their current prices and stock were not verified here. If you compare them, confirm that the listing is for a U.S. model, identify whether it is unlocked, check the seller and warranty, and distinguish new, open-box, renewed, and international devices. A marketplace listing with a lower price may have different warranty, network, or return terms.
How to compare a carrier deal with an unlocked phone
Never compare only the advertised monthly device payment. Compare the total cost over the period you expect to keep the carrier account:

- Add all device payments.
- Subtract only trade-in and promotional credits you actually qualify for.
- Add the incremental cost of the required wireless plan compared with the plan you would otherwise use.
- Add taxes, activation or upgrade fees, insurance, accessories, and any old-device payoff.
- Account for credits you would lose if you leave, upgrade, pay off the phone early, or change plans.
Illustrative bill-credit example
Suppose a carrier advertises a $799.99 phone for $0 after $22.22 per month in credits over 36 months. The phone still has a $799.99 retail value and a 36-month account commitment. If you leave after 12 months, you may receive only 12 months of credits and still owe the remaining device balance. If the required plan costs $25 more per month than an unlocked-compatible plan, that plan premium alone totals $900 over 36 months—more than the phone’s retail price.
This is an illustration, not a current carrier offer. Use the carrier’s actual retail price, credit schedule, plan price, and early-departure terms at checkout.
128GB or 256GB?
At Samsung’s standard unlocked prices, 256GB costs $100 more than 128GB. Choose 128GB if you stream most content, back up photos and videos, replace phones relatively often, or want the lowest purchase price.
Choose 256GB if you record lots of 4K video, keep games, music, maps, or movies offline, plan to keep the phone for several years, or do not want to manage cloud storage. The right comparison is the actual price difference shown for your configuration; a carrier promotion may erase or reverse Samsung’s $100 gap.

Trade-in or sell the old phone privately?
Trade-in is easier and can provide an instant discount or monthly promotional credits. A private sale may produce more money, but requires listing the phone, handling messages and payment, shipping or meeting a buyer, documenting condition, and securely erasing your data.
A carrier may advertise the highest trade-in value, but that value is often paid through bill credits rather than immediately. Check whether the old phone must be paid off, whether a cracked or damaged device qualifies, and what happens if the carrier changes its assessment after receiving it.
How to buy from Samsung
- Open Samsung’s Galaxy S25 buy page.
- Select the standard Galaxy S25, not the S25+, Ultra, Edge, or FE.
- Choose 128GB or 256GB, then select an available color.
- Select Unlocked unless you deliberately want a carrier-specific version.
- Enter your old phone’s model, carrier, and condition if requesting a trade-in.
- Read whether the trade-in is an immediate discount or a later credit, and note the shipping deadline.
- Compare one-time payment, Samsung Financing, and Pay-in-Four. Verify APR, term, and approval requirements.
- Add Care+ only after comparing its total cost with your existing insurance and ability to pay for repairs or replacement.
- Review the final amount after tax, shipping, trade-in adjustment, financing, and optional coverage.
- Save the order confirmation, trade-in instructions, photos of the old phone, and shipping receipt.
How to buy through a carrier
- Identify the transaction type: new line, upgrade, port-in, switcher offer, existing-customer offer, or business purchase.
- Read the required plan and compare its full cost with an unlocked-compatible alternative.
- Confirm the installment term, usually 24 or 36 months.
- Determine whether the advertised phone price is before or after monthly bill credits.
- Calculate device payments, plan premiums, taxes, activation or upgrade fees, trade-in value, and any old-phone balance.
- Check the carrier’s device-lock and unlock rules.
- Confirm the trade-in condition standards and deadline.
- Photograph the old phone, record its condition, and keep tracking and delivery proof.
- Do not cancel the old line until porting and promotional eligibility are confirmed.
- Review the first two bills to ensure the expected device credits appear.
Hidden costs and common mistakes
- Taxes and fees: Sales tax, activation, and upgrade fees may be due at purchase even when the device payment is low.
- Required plan: A phone that is “free” may require a more expensive unlimited plan for years.
- Early departure: Leaving the carrier can stop future credits while the remaining device balance remains due.
- Early payoff or upgrade: Some promotions can be affected if you pay off or replace the phone before all credits are issued.
- Trade-in rejection: A late shipment, incorrect model, missing components, or condition dispute can reduce or remove the expected credit.
- Charger and accessories: The S25 box does not include a wall charger. A case, screen protector, or compatible charger adds to the real purchase cost.
- Stock changes: Color and storage availability can change independently, and a listed configuration may be unavailable when you reach checkout.
- Wrong model: Verify that the order says Galaxy S25 and the intended storage, not a different S25-series model.
- Regional or locked hardware: Confirm the U.S. model number, warranty, SIM and eSIM compatibility, seller identity, and unlocked status.
Bottom line: which Galaxy S25 purchase is cheapest?
For the lowest-risk purchase, start with Samsung’s live unlocked price: $799.99 for 128GB or $899.99 for 256GB in the standard listings checked August 18, 2026. Choose 128GB unless your storage needs justify the extra $100.

A carrier promotion can beat that price when its trade-in credit is large and you would pay for the required plan anyway. It is not automatically cheaper when the plan costs more, the phone is financed for 36 months, or leaving early forfeits credits. Compare the phone, service, fees, trade-in, and commitment as one transaction—and recheck every offer immediately before submitting the order.
