Samsung Electronics is forecast to earn about $79.1 billion in operating profit in Q3 2026, but that is an analyst estimate—not a result the company has reported. Reuters, citing an LSEG SmartEstimate based on 21 analysts, put the forecast at KRW 106.1 trillion. Samsung’s preliminary results were scheduled for October 8, 2026, with more detailed figures expected later in October.
What the $80 billion forecast means
The headline figure is a rounded estimate of Samsung Electronics’ operating profit for the three months of Q3 2026. It is not net income, revenue, cash flow, or money distributed to shareholders. Reuters reported the LSEG SmartEstimate of KRW 106.1 trillion, which converts to approximately $79.1 billion. The estimate reflects 21 analysts’ forecasts, not Samsung’s confirmed quarterly accounts. That distinction matters: operating profit measures earnings from business operations before items such as interest and taxes, while net income is the amount remaining after additional expenses and taxes. The Q3 figure should therefore not be read as Samsung’s take-home profit or as a prediction of its stock return.
How it compares with reported results
Samsung reported consolidated operating profit of KRW 89.5 trillion on revenue of KRW 171.5 trillion for Q2 2026. Its Device Solutions division, which includes semiconductors, reported KRW 89.2 trillion in operating profit and KRW 127.5 trillion in revenue for that quarter. For context, Samsung reported Q2 2025 operating profit of KRW 4.68 trillion. Reuters described the Q3 2026 consensus as a sharp year-over-year increase against its cited Q3 2025 comparison. That comparison remains a forecast until Samsung publishes Q3 results; it should not be described as a nine-fold increase already achieved.
Why analysts expect a strong quarter—and what could weigh on it
Reuters attributed the optimistic forecast to robust demand related to artificial intelligence, which has supported demand for memory chips. The same report noted two possible offsets: memory-chip price gains were moderating, and a stronger Korean won could temper results when earnings are converted into other currencies. These are factors cited in the outlook, not confirmed explanations of Samsung’s eventual Q3 performance or a breakdown of its segment results.

When Samsung is expected to report
As of October 7, 2026, Samsung’s preliminary Q3 results were scheduled for Thursday, October 8. Detailed results, including segment information, were expected later in October. Until the preliminary release appears, KRW 106.1 trillion remains an estimate. Samsung’s Investor Relations results page is the place to check for company-published figures.
Samsung has previously explained that some earnings guidance figures are presented as the median of estimated ranges to comply with Korean disclosure rules.
