The prices below document Samsung’s original U.S. online promotion; they are not current sale prices. Contemporary coverage described more than 160 discounted products, with the largest tablet reductions reaching $150 and the biggest Chromebook reduction reaching $50.
The promotion was broader than tablets and Chromebooks, reportedly including televisions, printers, cameras, monitors, audio equipment, Blu-ray players, solid-state drives and wearables. The surviving product list and dates come from contemporary coverage.
What Samsung advertised
The headline was accurate, but only particular models received the maximum discounts. The $150 reduction applied to the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2. The reported $50 Chromebook saving applied to the 13.3-inch Chromebook 2, while the smaller 11.6-inch model received $20 off.

Tablet deals: where the $150 maximum applied
Galaxy Note Pro 12.2
The 32GB Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 fell to $599.99, a reported $150 reduction. It was Samsung’s large, pen-oriented Android tablet, aimed at users who wanted a spacious screen and the Note line’s stylus-focused tools. Its discount was notable because it applied to a premium-size model rather than only an entry-level tablet.
Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2
The separate 32GB Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 reached $499.99 after the same $150 reduction. It shared the large-screen productivity and media focus of the Note Pro but was a different product family and should not be treated as a stylus-equipped Note equivalent.
Galaxy Tab S 10.5
The 16GB Galaxy Tab S 10.5 was listed at $399.99, $100 below its reported regular price. It occupied the middle of the lineup: larger and more premium than the Tab 4, but less expensive than the 12.2-inch Pro and Note models.

Galaxy Tab 4 7.0
At $149.99 after a $50 reduction, the 8GB Tab 4 7.0 was the low-cost tablet choice. Its smaller screen and limited storage suited portability and a lower upfront budget, not the large-screen productivity use case of the 12.2-inch tablets.
Chromebook 2 discounts and specifications
Samsung’s Chromebook 2 range ran Chrome OS, not Android. Samsung’s launch announcement described both models as using Exynos 5 Octa processors. The 13.3-inch version had a 1920×1080 display and a claimed battery life of up to 8.5 hours; the 11.6-inch version used 1366×768 resolution and was rated for up to 8 hours. See Samsung’s March 2014 Chromebook 2 announcement.
| Model | Black Friday price | Reported saving | Launch MSRP context | Display and battery claim |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 13.3-inch Chromebook 2 | $349.99 | $50 | Samsung launch MSRP: $399.99 | 1920×1080; up to 8.5 hours |
| 11.6-inch Chromebook 2 | $229.99 | $20 | Samsung launch MSRP: $319.99 | 1366×768; up to 8 hours |
The launch MSRPs are not necessarily the same baseline used by the contemporary deal report when it calculated its advertised savings. They are shown separately to avoid silently mixing two price comparisons.

Other notable products in the campaign
Samsung Gear Fit
The Gear Fit was a fitness wearable, not a smartwatch or tablet. Contemporary coverage described its $99.99 price as $50 below a usual $150 price. That comparison is a 2014 reference, not a current valuation; the device is now a historical product.
Samsung 840 EVO SSD
The 250GB 840 EVO solid-state drive was listed at $149.99, with a reported $100 saving. Its inclusion shows how wide the Samsung.com campaign was beyond mobile devices.

Which 2014 deal stood out?
- Largest tablet discount: The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, each reduced by $150.
- Lowest tablet price: The 8GB Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 at $149.99, despite its smaller $50 saving.
- Middle-ground tablet: The 16GB Galaxy Tab S 10.5 at $399.99 with a $100 reduction.
- Largest Chromebook saving: The 13.3-inch Chromebook 2, discounted by $50 versus $20 for the 11.6-inch model.
- Accessory deal: The Gear Fit at $99.99, if a fitness band was the intended purchase rather than a computing device.
These are comparisons within the 2014 lineup, not recommendations for buying the devices today. A large dollar discount is not automatically better value than a lower final price, and storage, screen size and operating system materially changed what each product was suited to do.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Was it really a Black Friday-only sale?
No. “Black Friday” was the campaign label, but the offer windows varied. Tablet promotions reportedly began November 23, several days before Black Friday. Many other products started November 27, Thanksgiving Day in the United States. The 13.3-inch Chromebook 2 reportedly remained on promotion through December 27, while the Gear Fit offer ended December 6.
Contemporary coverage also said Samsung allowed customers to “pre-order” products at the advertised Black Friday prices before the listed sale dates. That wording comes from the 2014 reports and should not be read as a guarantee that every item was in stock or that Samsung uses the same ordering process now. The reports also mentioned PayPal Credit for qualifying 2014 orders over $200, with six months free of payments and interest when paid in full during that period, subject to credit approval. Those were period-specific terms, not a current financing policy.

What these prices mean now
The Note Pro, Tab Pro, Tab S, Tab 4, Chromebook 2, Gear Fit and 840 EVO are 2014-era products. Battery wear, discontinued software and browser support, obsolete ports, limited app compatibility, replacement-part availability and warranty status all matter more than the original discount. They should not be presented as current Samsung bargains or secure everyday-computing recommendations.
For a modern Samsung purchase, use the company’s live U.S. offers page: Samsung current offers. It does not preserve the 2014 prices, and no current replacement price should be inferred from this historical promotion.
