Samsung completed its acquisition of Xealth in October 2025, buying a platform that connects digital-health services with healthcare providers—not a switch that turns every Galaxy Watch into a medical device or automatically sends its readings to a doctor. Samsung’s plan is to connect its phones, wearables and Samsung Health services with clinical workflows. Whether that becomes useful to a patient depends on their provider, the specific program, the data shared and the care team’s rules.
What Samsung acquired
Xealth is a digital-health platform that began within Providence. It is designed to help health systems deploy and manage digital tools through existing care workflows, including electronic health record environments. Those tools can include patient programs, remote monitoring, digital therapeutics and communications between patients and care teams. Xealth is an integration and orchestration layer, not an EHR replacement or a consumer smartwatch app. Samsung’s acquisition announcement and Xealth’s company overview describe its provider-facing role.
That makes the deal different from Samsung simply adding another feature to Samsung Health. Samsung brings consumer devices and software; Xealth brings provider-side relationships and infrastructure for fitting digital services into clinical workflows. Health systems contribute clinicians, records and care protocols, while partner companies can supply specialized programs.
When the acquisition happened
Samsung announced an agreement to acquire Xealth on July 8, 2025. At the time, it said the transaction was subject to customary closing conditions and expected to close during 2025. Samsung later reported acquiring 100% of Xealth’s shares on October 16, 2025; Xealth announced the completed acquisition the following day. The deal is complete, not pending. Samsung’s announcement and Xealth’s completion notice document the timeline.

How a Galaxy Watch could fit into clinical care
A wearable can collect signals and help a person track patterns, but those measurements do not become clinically useful just because they exist. A potential connected-care pathway would involve a provider selecting a program, a patient agreeing to participate, supported data being collected, and the health system deciding how to surface relevant information to clinicians.
- A patient uses a compatible Galaxy Watch or another supported device to collect health-related or wellness measurements.
- Samsung Health or another service organizes or interprets selected information.
- An integration layer such as Xealth may route approved information into a participating provider’s workflow.
- The provider’s clinical rules determine what is reviewed, whether it warrants follow-up, and who is responsible for acting.
- A clinician considers the information alongside the patient’s history and other clinical context, then decides whether it affects care.
This is selective, workflow-mediated sharing—not necessarily continuous transmission of every sensor reading. The watch does not make the clinical decision. Samsung describes the intended connection as a way to bring home monitoring closer to clinical decision-making, while Xealth presents its platform as bringing device, clinical and other insights into care-team workflows.
What Samsung had shown by 2026—and what it had not
At VivaTech in June 2026, Samsung presented connected-care demonstrations involving Galaxy phones and watches, Samsung Health, partner services and Xealth. Samsung characterized the connection as part of a future connected-care blueprint. Its public material establishes a demonstration and integration direction; it does not establish that every Galaxy Watch owner can now send readings to a physician through Xealth. Samsung’s VivaTech announcement describes the vision.
Samsung also reported more than 77 million global monthly active users for Samsung Health as of April 2026. That is a Samsung-reported platform audience figure, not the number enrolled in clinical programs or the number whose data providers can access. Samsung’s ecosystem announcement gives the figure.

It is important to distinguish a demonstration from a pilot, a broadly available consumer service or a regulated medical product. The cited public material establishes the demonstration and strategic direction, but not universal consumer availability of a Galaxy Watch-to-doctor service.
What the platform could enable for patients and providers
Connected-care programs can extend some monitoring, education and follow-up beyond hospital visits. Depending on a health system’s implementation, that could support remote patient monitoring, digital therapeutic programs, home rehabilitation, chronic-condition management, care-gap outreach or more context between appointments. Samsung’s public examples emphasize proactive and preventive care; Xealth’s product material describes remote monitoring, virtual-care enablement and related workflow tools. These are potential uses of the platform, not proof that Samsung has launched a specific Galaxy Watch-powered treatment program.
For a patient, more consistent information between appointments could help a care team understand trends rather than relying only on a snapshot taken during a visit. For a health system, a platform that fits into existing workflows could reduce the effort of connecting separate digital tools. Neither benefit is automatic: staff need a workable process for reviewing data, and the information has to be reliable and relevant to the care question.
An illustrative patient journey
Imagine a health system enrolling a patient in a remote-care program. The patient uses a compatible wearable, and the program collects a defined set of measurements. Xealth could route selected information into the provider’s workflow; clinical rules could flag a trend for review; and the care team could decide whether to contact the patient. This describes a possible workflow, not a guaranteed feature currently available to Galaxy Watch owners.

How large Xealth’s network is
Samsung said at the time of its 2025 acquisition announcement that Xealth had relationships with more than 500 U.S. hospitals and more than 70 digital-health solution partners, including Advocate Health and Banner Health. Those are figures from the announcement, not a current audited count. Samsung’s U.S. announcement provides that snapshot.
Xealth’s current website advertises 600 hospitals and 4.5 million patients engaged. It also claims a 354% enrollment boost when patients are invited through Xealth, a 69%+ engagement rate and more than $100,000 in savings per vendor integration avoided. These are Xealth’s own marketing claims. The cited material does not give enough methodological detail—such as definitions, comparison groups, time periods or calculation methods—to independently assess them. Xealth’s website lists the figures.
What a Galaxy Watch can—and cannot—tell a care team
Galaxy Watch features span general wellness tracking, consumer-facing estimates and, for some functions, software with separate medical-use instructions or authorization in particular markets. Samsung’s 2026 messaging highlights sleep and activity analysis, AI-generated insights, exercise guidance and other wellness features. Samsung says those newer wellness features are not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions. Samsung’s feature announcement sets out that distinction.
Some Samsung Health Monitor functions have their own requirements and geographic limits. For example, Samsung’s U.S. instructions for irregular-heart-rhythm notification caution users not to interpret the output or take clinical action without consulting a qualified healthcare professional. Availability and instructions can vary by country, product and software. The U.S. instructions explain the limitation.

The public acquisition and connected-care announcements do not specify exactly which Galaxy Watch fields a Xealth-connected provider would receive. They do not establish that a clinician will get raw continuous heart-rate data, sleep histories, ECG files, blood-pressure readings, blood-oxygen measurements, Samsung Health scores or automatic alerts for every unusual result.

The information available to a care team would depend on factors such as:
- the watch model and the feature being used;
- the country and the feature’s regulatory status there;
- the participating health system, its integrations and its clinical rules;
- the patient’s consent and sharing settings; and
- whether the provider considers the data sufficiently reliable for its intended purpose.
What consumers should check before relying on a connection
Owning a Galaxy Watch alone does not establish access to a Xealth-connected clinical program. A patient considering remote care should get specifics from their provider rather than assume that Samsung Health data is already available in a medical record.
- Does the provider participate in a relevant Xealth-enabled program?
- Does the program support the patient’s specific watch model and Samsung Health feature?
- Which measurements are shared, and are they reviewed continuously or at set intervals?
- Who receives a notification, and what is the response plan if a reading is concerning?
- What happens when the watch is offline, uncharged or missing data?
- What consent, access and data-sharing terms apply?
Risks and constraints behind the promise
Data quality and missing readings
Wearable readings can be affected by fit, skin contact, movement, battery life, sensor limits and differences between models. People may remove a watch, stop charging it, lose connectivity or disable permissions. A gap in data is not the same as a reassuring result, and a measurement is useful only if its limitations are understood.

Routing too many fluctuations to clinicians can create alert fatigue. A functioning remote-care program needs thresholds, prioritization and a named team responsible for follow-up. Health systems must decide what is actionable, how quickly to respond and what standard of care applies; a consumer wellness score does not automatically become a clinical alarm.

Privacy and integration
Information may pass through device software, Samsung Health, cloud services, Xealth, a health system and third-party digital-health vendors. Consent, access controls, retention policies and institutional agreements therefore matter. The practical experience can also differ by provider because each health system’s EHR connections and workflows may be configured differently. Xealth’s stated role is to integrate digital tools into provider environments, not to eliminate those implementation differences. Xealth’s completion announcement describes its platform approach.
Regulation and access
Medical-device authorization and intended use can be limited to particular products, countries, software versions and functions; a feature available in the United States may not be available elsewhere. Access also depends on whether a patient has a compatible device, connectivity, digital skills and a provider participating in the program. People using an iPhone or a different Android device may not fit a Samsung-centered pathway.
Why the deal matters to Samsung
Samsung already has a large consumer-health footprint through phones, wearables and Samsung Health. Xealth adds a path toward provider relationships and clinical workflow integration. That could let Samsung pursue a broader platform spanning devices at home, health services and care teams, while giving health systems another way to coordinate digital programs.

The commercial interest is not separate from the care case: a stronger Samsung Health ecosystem can also support Samsung’s services, devices and partnerships. For patients, the key question is whether a particular program delivers useful care; for providers, it is whether the platform fits clinical operations and can be governed safely. The acquisition alone does not establish improved patient outcomes.
