Choose Sam’s Club if you’ll use warehouse shopping and nearby member-priced fuel; choose Walmart+ if you regularly rely on Walmart delivery or shipping. Sam’s Club Plus may make sense when you can use its qualifying rewards and delivery perks, while the lower-priced Club tier covers core warehouse benefits. There is no universal winner: local availability and your actual shopping pattern decide the value.
How the memberships compare
These memberships serve different routines. Sam’s Club gives access to warehouse shopping and member fuel prices, with additional rewards and services at Plus. Walmart+ is built around Walmart order fulfillment, participating-station fuel savings, and a streaming choice.

| Membership | Regular fee | Included benefits relevant to this comparison | Conditions to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sam’s Club Club | $60 per year | Member-only fuel prices, Scan & Go, two membership cards, and curbside pickup on eligible orders | Free curbside pickup applies to eligible orders over $50. Fuel and services depend on local availability. Sam’s Club benefits |
| Sam’s Club Plus | $120 per year | Club benefits plus 2% Sam’s Cash on qualifying in-club purchases, eligible shipping and delivery, and early shopping | The benefits page states a $750 yearly maximum for qualifying Sam’s Cash. Shipping and delivery have order and eligibility conditions. Sam’s Club benefits |
| Walmart+ | $98 per year or $12.95 per month, plus applicable tax | Store delivery, shipping on eligible items without an order minimum, participating-station fuel savings, and a choice of streaming service | Free store delivery has a $35 order minimum and other restrictions. The streaming choice is one ad-supported service every 90 days: Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential. Membership help and Walmart+ benefits |
Sam’s Club’s official renewal rates list the same $60 Club and $120 Plus prices. Promotions can have eligibility restrictions, including limits for new or lapsed members, so check the current offer terms rather than treating a promotional price as the regular fee.
Which membership fits your shopping routine?
Choose Sam’s Club Club for warehouse shopping and fuel
Club is the lower-cost way into Sam’s Club’s warehouse benefits and member-only fuel prices. It is the more straightforward fit if you expect to shop in-club, use Scan & Go or eligible curbside pickup, and do not see enough value in Plus-only benefits to justify the higher fee.
#1 Best Overall
Consider Sam’s Club Plus if you will use its extras
Plus costs $60 more per year than Club. Its 2% Sam’s Cash applies to qualifying in-club purchases, not all spending, and is subject to the stated annual maximum. Include only rewards you expect to earn and services you can actually use when judging whether the tier difference is worthwhile.
Choose Walmart+ for Walmart fulfillment
Walmart+ is a stronger candidate if you frequently order from Walmart and can use store delivery or eligible shipped orders. Delivery requires a $35 minimum, while eligible shipping has no order minimum. Its included streaming selection may add value if someone in your household wants one of the offered services, but it is not automatically equivalent to cash savings.

Check local access before counting savings
Both memberships’ fuel value depends on nearby participating locations. Sam’s Club prices require access to a local club fuel station; Walmart+ savings apply at participating stations, not every gas station. Check locations near your home and regular routes before assigning a dollar value.

Walmart says Walmart+ is available to customers with a U.S. billing address, with benefits limited in Alaska and Hawaii. Its InHome service is offered only in limited U.S. ZIP codes. Sam’s Club delivery also depends on the local club and eligible orders. Enter your address or ZIP code and confirm availability in the relevant service before relying on delivery. Estimate the value from your own year
- Start with the fee. Compare the $60 Club, $120 Plus, or $98 annual Walmart+ fee. Walmart+ also has a $12.95 monthly option, plus applicable tax.
- Use your receipts and routine. Estimate how often you would shop at a warehouse, order from Walmart, or use delivery and shipping. Do not count benefits you would not otherwise use.
- Check order and reward eligibility. Account for Walmart+’s $35 store-delivery minimum and eligible-item shipping rules; for Plus, count only qualifying Sam’s Cash and shipping or delivery you can use.
- Verify fuel locations and streaming interest. Confirm nearby participating stations and decide whether the Walmart+ streaming choice has real household value.
- Compare the resulting value with the fee. Treat estimated savings as personal projections, not guarantees. Walmart says its average Walmart+ member savings are $382 per year among annual members with at least 12 months of membership, excluding the $98 annual fee; that is Walmart’s estimate, not an independent head-to-head comparison.
