That strategy was described by Myron Frazier in an October 4, 2026 article hosted by JBizNews and credited to Fox Business News; the account is secondary, not a published interview transcript.
What Sam’s Club says is changing
In the JBizNews report, Frazier said convenience is becoming increasingly important to the value equation for fresh food. He described the goal as making fresh items convenient “from the club to your home, and then from the stove or from the oven to the table.” The report says members can choose in-club shopping, curbside pickup or delivery, and identifies ready-to-cook products as one way Sam’s Club is addressing meal preparation.
The article calls Frazier executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. Walmart’s current leadership page lists him as senior vice president, eCommerce, Sam’s Club. Because those titles differ and the interview date’s title is not independently established here, this article refers to him by name rather than assigning a role.
Prepared meals bring convenience into the kitchen
The report names fresh panko chicken breast and a ready-to-cook “Marry Me Chicken” meal. It says the latter can feed a family of four in about 12 minutes. That is a reported preparation claim, not an independently tested cooking time; product availability and details may change.

These examples address a different kind of convenience from pickup or delivery: they aim to reduce the work between buying groceries and serving a meal. The report does not provide comparative prices, nutrition details or preparation instructions, so it does not establish whether the meals are less expensive or quicker than alternatives.
How delivery and pickup fit the reported strategy
Frazier told Fox Business News, as quoted by JBizNews, that fresh items could be available in the club, curbside or delivered to members’ homes in under an hour. The report attributes to him a claim that Sam’s Club Express Delivery offers fresh items in under an hour without a markup. Speed, fees and availability can vary by location and date, so members should check the service terms for their address rather than assume the reported terms apply everywhere.

The options involve a practical trade-off between time, assortment and the way a member shops. A club visit lets shoppers select items themselves; pickup avoids shopping inside but still requires a trip to the club; delivery removes that trip. McKinsey’s 2026 grocery report also highlights an assortment-versus-speed trade-off: 90 percent of surveyed consumers preferred a wider, in-store-like selection delivered the same day, compared with 10 percent who preferred a narrower selection delivered in under 30 minutes. These are survey preferences, not a guarantee of what any Sam’s Club location stocks or delivers.
What broader grocery data can—and cannot—tell us
McKinsey’s The State of Grocery North America 2026, published June 17, reports that 70 percent of respondents to its March 2026 Grocery Consumer Survey preferred delivery for online grocery fulfillment. Among reasons respondents gave for preferring delivery, 67 percent cited time savings, 52 percent scheduling flexibility and 45 percent ease for larger orders.

Those findings help explain why fulfillment choice may matter to grocery shoppers broadly. They are not a Sam’s Club member survey and do not show that convenience caused a change in Sam’s Club fresh-food sales.

Walmart’s Q2 FY27 earnings release, published August 20, 2026, reported 26 percent growth in Sam’s Club U.S. e-commerce for the quarter and said members leaned into speed and convenience options, including club-fulfilled delivery. The figure covers e-commerce overall; Walmart did not break out fresh-food digital sales in that release.

The JBizNews article also says Frazier described Sam’s Club’s digital business in fresh as having doubled “in the last couple of years.” It supplies no baseline or measurement definition, so that statement cannot be translated into a specific sales share or treated as a separately verified company metric.
