Those are secondary estimates, not confirmed figures. Public information identifies Harris’s work in books, podcasting and the Waking Up app, but does not disclose his personal income, assets or spending.

| Publisher and date | Published estimate | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Celebrity Net Worth, accessed 2026 | $12 million | The site presents an estimate and says its figures are based on public sources; a transparent calculation or personal financial disclosure was not evident in the page’s search result. Celebrity Net Worth |
| People & Media, 2026 | $25 million–$60 million | The article calls this a best-effort estimate based on public subscriber and valuation signals, book-sales benchmarks and assumptions about savings after tax. Those inputs do not verify Harris’s wealth. People & Media |
These figures are not audited valuations and should not be treated as a reliable range. The higher estimate’s explanation describes assumptions rather than access to Harris’s personal financial records; the lower estimate likewise does not establish a confirmed total. Neither source supports a precise breakdown of assets, liabilities or annual earnings.
What work could contribute to his income?
Harris’s official site identifies his public work as an author and host of the Making Sense podcast, and his work is also associated with the Waking Up app. These activities indicate possible sources of commercial income, but the available official pages do not state what Harris personally earns from them.

Books
Harris’s book Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality Without Religion is connected to the origins of the app. The official Waking Up About page says Harris founded the app in 2018 to extend ideas explored in the book. That connection does not disclose book sales, royalties or the author’s proceeds. Waking Up About
Podcast
The official site offers paid access to the Making Sense podcast. That documents a paid-access model, not the number of subscribers, revenue, operating costs or Harris’s share of proceeds. Making Sense subscription page

- Winner of the 2005 PEN/Martha Albrand Award for Nonfiction. In The End of Faith, Sam Harris delivers a startling analysis of the clash between reason and religion in the modern world.
Waking Up app
The app’s official materials describe its content and operations, but do not disclose its revenue, valuation, subscriber count, ownership economics or any amount paid to Harris. Content volume and ratings are not substitutes for financial data: the About page reports more than 600 hours of audio, over 100,000 five-star ratings and more than 100 artist partners, but none of those figures establishes income or company value. How does Sam Harris spend his money?
Publicly reviewed sources do not document Harris’s personal expenditures, charitable donations or private lifestyle costs. It would be misleading to infer how he spends his own money from policies or programs run by Waking Up.

Waking Up says its intention is to make the service available regardless of a person’s financial circumstances. Its About page also says the service donates a minimum of 10% of its profits to effective charities focused on human flourishing and catastrophic risk, and describes scholarships and partnerships with artists and teachers. These are statements about the service’s policies and activities; they do not show how much Harris personally gives or spends. Waking Up About

- Established: Harris’s public work includes books, the Making Sense podcast and the Waking Up app.
- Not established: His personal net worth, annual income, ownership interests, business proceeds, personal spending and personal charitable giving.
- Worth keeping separate: Waking Up’s stated charitable and access policies are service-level commitments, not disclosures of Harris’s private finances.
The most accurate answer is therefore not a single dollar figure: his net worth remains publicly unverified, and there is not enough evidence to say how he spends his personal wealth.
