There is not enough verified evidence to label every product or service called SafeCard either legitimate or a scam. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) profile for a Chicago online retailer named SafeCard shows a C- rating and four customer reviews, including complaints about checkout, charges, refunds, returns, and customer support. Those reviews are individual allegations, not proof of fraud or a measure of how often problems occur. The title’s reference to “Consumer Reports” is unsupported: the sources reviewed do not show a Consumer Reports test or endorsement.
Which SafeCard are these reviews about?
The BBB profile concerns a Chicago online retailer. The SafeCard name also appears on other services, and the available information does not establish that they are connected.
- Chicago retailer: BBB lists a business profile for SafeCard, classifying it as an online retailer.
- safecardshield.com: ScamAdviser labels this site “Very Likely Unsafe,” citing signals such as hidden ownership, low traffic ranking, negative reviews, and the site’s age. ScamAdviser also says its assessment had not been refreshed in more than 30 days. This is a third-party risk signal, not a regulator or court finding, and it does not establish that the Chicago retailer is the same entity. See the ScamAdviser assessment.
- SafeCard Access Technologies SpA: The Chilean company’s terms identify a company in Santiago and were updated in January 2026. Its app information and terms and conditions are not evidence of a connection to the Chicago retailer.
A shared name alone is not enough to treat these businesses, websites, or services as one company.
What does the BBB profile and its reviews show?
BBB lists the Chicago retailer as not accredited and gives it a C- rating. BBB says the stated reasons include failure to respond to one complaint and length of time in business. Neither the rating nor the accreditation status is proof that a business is fraudulent.

The BBB review page displayed four reviews when surfaced in search. Dated entries include a June 12, 2026 reviewer’s allegation of being charged after closing the order flow; a May 12, 2025 account of a disputed refund and return; and March and April 2025 reports alleging duplicate charges or difficulty contacting the company. Read the individual BBB reviews as claims by those reviewers, not adjudicated findings. BBB says it does not verify the accuracy of third-party information and does not endorse businesses.
The four-review count describes that page when it appeared in search; it is not a representative statistic about all SafeCard customers. The reviews are still useful as reasons to examine checkout totals, refund terms, and support contact details carefully before paying.

Does the SafeCard card work as advertised?
A promotional release dated March 27, 2025 describes SafeCard as a wallet card intended to block RFID-based scanning and says it does not protect against physical theft. These are the promoter’s claims, not independent test results. The available sources provide no independent demonstration of the card’s effectiveness, so they do not establish that it prevents fraud, identity theft, or unauthorized charges. “RFID blocking” is a limited protection claim, not a guarantee against every way financial or personal information can be misused. A wallet card also cannot prevent someone from physically taking a wallet.

What should you check before buying?
If you are considering this or another RFID-blocking wallet accessory, assess the product and the seller separately. The category label alone does not show that a particular card has been independently tested or that a particular seller will honor its policies.
- Independent performance evidence: Look for testing by an identifiable independent source, including what was tested and under what conditions. Promotional claims are not a substitute.
- Protection scope: Confirm which threat the product claims to address. Do not treat RFID shielding as protection against physical theft or all forms of fraud.
- Seller identity: Check that the business named at checkout matches the company’s contact and policy information. Do not assume similarly named sites are affiliated.
- Total checkout cost: Review the final price and any shipping or other charges before submitting payment.
- Returns and refunds: Read the terms for return deadlines, required steps, and refund handling, and save a copy of the terms and order confirmation.
What if you already have a disputed charge?
If you believe a SafeCard-related transaction is incorrect, keep the order confirmation, checkout details, correspondence, and relevant return or refund terms. Contact the seller using the details on your order and payment records. If the issue remains unresolved, contact your card issuer or payment provider and ask about its dispute process and deadlines; those rules depend on the provider and payment method. Avoid relying on a review page or a similarly named company to resolve a transaction unless you have confirmed it is the seller you paid.
