The company says its business-payment services grew from financial-management and payment challenges Nelli encountered while operating Tyler Petroleum. Zil Money and OnlineCheckWriter are connected services; Zil.US is described by the company as a fintech neobank, with banking services provided by participating partner banks—not by Zil Money itself.
Who is Sabeer Nelli?
Forbes Business Council identifies Nelli as founder and CEO of Tyler Petroleum, Zil Money Corporation, OnlineCheckWriter.com and Zil.US. His personal website uses the name Sabeer Nelliparamban and likewise associates him with Zil Money, ZilUS and OnlineCheckWriter. Those descriptions establish his stated business roles, but not independent verification of company performance.
In a June 2022 interview with PYMNTS, Nelli discussed fraud screening and said, “We can check that a device and account are in the same place, for example, and that this is done on a Mac.” The comment offers a glimpse of the operational concerns he addressed as the company developed payment services; it is not an assessment of the services’ overall security or effectiveness.
How Tyler Petroleum figures into the origin story
OnlineCheckWriter’s company account says Nelli ran Tyler Petroleum while using multiple services for payments, banking and tracking, and that the inefficiency prompted the idea for a more unified business-payment platform. The company’s October 7, 2022 announcement says a beta version was developed for Tyler Petroleum and that Zil Money was founded in 2019. These are the company’s accounts of its origins, rather than independently verified details of the founding process.

The connection is relevant to the product’s focus: the company presents its services as tools for business payment and financial workflows, including check printing and related administration, rather than as a consumer bank account alone.
How Zil Money, OnlineCheckWriter and Zil.US relate
OnlineCheckWriter’s About page presents Zil Money and OnlineCheckWriter as connected services. It describes Zil.US as a fintech neobank, while making a key distinction about who provides banking: “Zil Money is a financial technology company and not a bank.” The page says banking services are provided by participating partner banks. Customers should therefore distinguish the technology platform and service brands from the bank partners that provide banking services.
The company lists functions and integrations that place the services in business finance operations. Its current About page includes accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and workflow integrations, naming QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books and Gusto among others. These listings describe the company’s stated integrations; they do not establish that every function is available in every service, plan or jurisdiction.
What the company says about its scale
OnlineCheckWriter’s current About page, accessed October 8, 2026, reports $120 billion or more in gross transaction volume, 22 million or more checks processed, 1.5 million or more business user accounts, and connections to more than 22,000 banks and financial institutions. The page does not state when those figures were measured, and they are company-published figures rather than independently audited metrics.

Separately, a Zil Money Corporation announcement published October 7, 2022 reported 500,000 customers. That is a dated company milestone using a different label from the current page’s “business user accounts”; it should not be treated as a current customer count or directly reconciled with the later account figure.

Forbes Business Council provides a professional profile, PYMNTS published Nelli’s comments on fraud screening, and the company’s own pages and announcement provide the origin story, integrations and scale claims.
