A hotel provides a room, but its parking may not fit an RV. Compare the exact site or property—not broad assumptions—on hookups, sleeping setup, vehicle fit, parking rules and extra fees before booking.
What amenities does an RV park have?
RV park amenities vary by property and sometimes by campground area or individual site. The key distinction is whether a feature is included at your reserved site or available somewhere on the property.
Hookups and utilities
KOA describes full hookups as water, electricity and sewer; partial hookups may provide water and electricity, while dry sites have no utility hookups. Confirm the exact connections and electrical service at the site you are booking. “RV site” does not by itself mean full hookups. KOA’s RV camping guidance also recommends checking electrical compatibility before arrival.
Restrooms, showers and other shared facilities
Facilities differ substantially. KOA says its locations have bathrooms with hot showers and fresh water, but that statement should not be generalized to other operators—or used to assume every campground area at a property has the same amenities. Lake Perris State Recreation Area lists nearby restrooms and free hot showers, while Sand Hollow State Park’s Beachside Campground has no restrooms or showers. Confirm the specific campground area and how far shared facilities are from your site.

Does an RV park have full hookups?
Some sites do, and others offer partial hookups or no utilities. Even within one park, hookup combinations can differ by campground area or site. Read the specific site description and verify water, electrical amperage and sewer access before reserving.

Most hookup sites have 30-amp service, with 50-amp service at listed sites. Sand Hollow’s Westside RV campground lists full hookups, while its Eastside Beach has no utility hookups and its Beachside Campground has electric hookups. These are property-specific examples, not standard features of all RV parks.
What RV parking options and restrictions should you expect?

Can you park an RV at a hotel?
Sometimes, but there is no reliable hotel-wide rule that an RV can park on-site. The individual property determines whether it has suitable parking, whether a space is available, and whether vehicle length or height limits apply. A garage’s clearance, a small lot or local restrictions may make a property unsuitable even if it otherwise meets your lodging needs.

Compare the actual stay and its logistics. An RV park provides an outdoor site for your vehicle and access to whatever utilities and shared facilities that particular site and property offer. A hotel provides a room and the room features listed by that property. Neither format is universally more comfortable, convenient or less expensive.

How to check a booking before you commit
- Identify the exact place and site. Confirm the campground area or hotel property, travel dates and reservation type.
- Match the space to your vehicle. For an RV site, verify pad dimensions, layout, surface and access for the full rig. For a hotel, confirm that its parking can accommodate the vehicle’s dimensions.
- Confirm facilities and utilities. Ask which hookups are at the site and which amenities are shared, nearby, seasonal or unavailable.
- Check vehicle limits and fees. Verify the included vehicle count, extra-vehicle rules, overflow options and parking charges.
- Recheck volatile details close to travel. Availability, fees and operating conditions can change. Oregon State Parks advises checking the individual park page; its statewide FAQ describes different campsite and parking arrangements and notes that fees vary.
RV hookup checks before arrival
Once you have confirmed that the reserved site has the connections your RV needs, compare those connections with your vehicle’s equipment. KOA recommends using a quality, UL-tested surge protector before connecting to campground electricity. A water pressure regulator may be worth considering because pressure can vary; an electrical adapter may be needed depending on the RV and the site receptacle. Check your equipment and the site’s specifications rather than assuming an accessory or connection will be required everywhere.
