Is RRB Technician 2024 registration open now?
No. The reopened application period ended at 23:59 on 16 October 2024. The word “today” in the original headline referred to the 2024 announcement, not a current application opportunity. The official notices cited here do not establish whether a final panel or closure notice was issued later. For any later outcome, check the relevant Railway Recruitment Board’s official notices; the RRB Kolkata notice listing, for example, records notices for this recruitment, including a 12 November 2024 application-status notice for Technician Grade-I Signal.
When did the registration window reopen?
Corrigendum & Addendum No. 2 set the reopened window for eligible new and existing candidates from 00:01 on 2 October to 23:59 on 16 October 2024. These were the dates for that specific reopening, not an ongoing or recurring registration period. See the RRB application portal and official RRB notices for any future recruitment announcements.
Why did the vacancy count rise to 14,298?
The initial CEN 02/2024 notice advertised 9,144 vacancies across 18 categories. After additional demand was received from workshops and production units, a revised vacancy addendum increased the total to 14,298 across 40 categories. The increase therefore reflects added vacancies and categories, not a separate recruitment cycle.

The addendum also supplied revised vacancy tables and post parameters for newly included categories, including qualifications, medical standards and PwBD suitability details. The revised annexures are the appropriate reference for comparing a particular category or RRB/zone. Other terms of CEN 02/2024 remained unchanged.

According to the RRB FAQ dated 1 October 2024, an eligible candidate who had already paid the application fee did not need to pay it again during the reopened window. Eligible existing candidates could also change their RRB and Grade III post preferences during that period. These options applied within the specified reopening window; they do not mean an application can be edited now.

What should candidates check before trusting an update?
- Use official RRB notices and the application portal to verify any claim of a new window, result or recruitment outcome.
- For a specific job category, consult its revised annexure for the RRB/zone vacancy distribution, required qualification or trade, medical standard and PwBD suitability.
- Do not pay anyone who promises selection. In its 22 August 2024 notice, the RRB warned candidates about touts making false promises of selection for illegal consideration.
