What happened to the May 11, 2025 application deadline?
The application window for CEN 01/2025 ran from 12 April to 11 May 2025, closing at 23:59. The deadline to pay the application fee was 13 May 2025 at 23:59, and the stated form-correction window was 14–23 May 2025. All three dates have passed.
The original notice advertised 9,970 ALP vacancies across participating RRBs and zones. RRB listings later included a vacancy-enhancement corrigendum, but the revised total is not confirmed here. For the recruitment’s current vacancy count or stage, use the chosen RRB’s official website and its latest notice rather than assuming the original figure still applies.
Who could apply under the original notice?
Age
The original age range was 18–30 years as of 1 July 2025, before applicable category relaxations. The notice included, among other provisions, five years of upper-age relaxation for SC/ST candidates and three years for OBC non-creamy layer candidates, subject to the required documentary conditions. Other categories have separate rules, so check the notice rather than applying a single relaxed maximum age to everyone.

Technical qualifications
Eligibility was based on specified technical routes, not on any diploma, degree or ITI certificate in general. Annexure A of CEN 01/2025 lists eligible ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship trades and prescribed engineering diploma disciplines. Degrees in specified engineering disciplines may be accepted in lieu of the diploma. The required qualification had to be held by the application closing date; candidates awaiting final results were not eligible. Match the exact trade or discipline to Annexure A before treating a qualification as sufficient.
Medical standard
ALP candidates had to meet the A-1 medical classification. The notice specifies unaided distant vision of 6/6 in both eyes, near vision of Sn 0.6 in both eyes without glasses, and tests covering colour, binocular, field, night and mesopic vision. It states that LASIK or other refractive-error correction surgery makes a candidate ineligible. It also says no alternative appointment is offered if a candidate fails the required medical standard.

How did the ALP selection process work?
The recruitment stages are CBT-1, CBT-2, the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), document verification and medical examination. CBT-1 is a screening test: its marks do not count toward the final panel.
CBT-1: screening
The notice specifies 75 questions in 60 minutes. Candidates who meet the applicable screening criteria proceed to CBT-2; CBT-1 marks are not part of final merit.

CBT-2: Part-A and trade test
CBT-2 lasts 2 hours 30 minutes and has 175 questions in two parts:

Part-B tests the relevant trade syllabus. Meeting its qualifying threshold is necessary, but Part-B marks do not form the stated final-merit weighting.

CBAT and final merit
The CBAT is conducted only in English and Hindi, and candidates must qualify each test battery. For candidates who meet the required qualifying conditions, final ALP merit combines CBT-2 Part-A at 70% weight and CBAT at 30% weight. Document verification and the A-1 medical examination are also part of the selection process.

The original notice allowed one application to one RRB only. Applicants had to choose carefully: the selected RRB could not be changed after submission. The notice directed candidates to apply through a participating RRB’s official website and to monitor that RRB for updates and e-call letters.

RRBs warned applicants: “Beware of fake websites – they may give misleading and incorrect information.” Use official RRB websites for recruitment notices and status updates, not lookalike pages or unverified posts.
