Royal Caribbean’s 2026–27 schedule has changed since its initial announcement, but not every affected cruise changed in the same way. Reports describe ships being swapped while dates and itineraries stayed the same, a major homeport move for Symphony of the Seas, and an individual sailing whose length and ports were revised. Check your current booking notice for the vessel, departure port, dates, itinerary and any choices or deadlines that apply to your reservation.
What changed—and what the terms mean
Royal Caribbean’s November 2024 announcement laid out its original 2026–27 Caribbean and Northeast deployments, including Symphony of the Seas from Galveston. That announcement is a baseline, not a guarantee that every ship or sailing will remain as first published. Royal Caribbean’s current ship and schedule information provides official context, but a passenger should use their own current sailing record and change notice to confirm booking-specific details.
- Ship swap: A different vessel is assigned to a sailing. The date, ports and duration may stay the same, but that should be verified rather than assumed.
- Homeport redeployment: A ship is moved to a different embarkation port, which can affect travel plans even if a later itinerary is similar.
- Itinerary revision: The sailing’s length or scheduled ports change. This is distinct from a vessel substitution.
These changes can overlap, but one does not automatically imply the others. Reports below are examples, not a complete roster of all changes through October 8, 2026.
Reported ship swaps: when the ship changed but the itinerary did not
Grandeur and Jewel of the Seas: Latin America and Florida
A September 2025 report said Grandeur of the Seas was moved from planned Tampa and Fort Lauderdale voyages to sail from Cartagena, Colombia, and Colón, Panama, while Jewel of the Seas took the Florida deployment. For the affected bookings described in the report, the sailing date and itinerary were to remain intact while the ship changed. See Royal Caribbean Blog’s September 2025 report.

Mariner and Freedom of the Seas: Southampton, summer 2027
Royal Caribbean Blog reported on April 1, 2026, that Freedom of the Seas would replace Mariner of the Seas for Southampton sailings in summer 2027 after Mariner’s deployment changed. The article quoted guest email language saying Mariner would be redeployed due to scheduling, port agreements or operational needs. In that specific notice, guests could take the same-date Freedom sailing, rebook another Royal Caribbean sailing or request a refund. The notice also set an April response deadline; its options and deadline should not be treated as a general policy for other redeployments. Read the report and notice details.
Homeport move: Symphony of the Seas from Galveston to Fort Lauderdale
On April 9, 2026, Royal Caribbean Blog reported that Symphony of the Seas would move from its previously announced Galveston deployment to Fort Lauderdale for 2027. The blog quoted a Royal Caribbean spokesperson: “Starting in 2027, Symphony of the Seas will reposition from Galveston, Texas, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offering 6- and 8-night Caribbean vacations. This repositioning allows us to continue delivering the incredible experiences guests love while thoughtfully evolving our deployment strategy.” The move matters to travelers because the embarkation city changes; do not assume that a booking’s dates or other details are unaffected without checking its updated record. Itinerary revision: one Allure sailing lost a night and a port
Cruise Industry News reported that the January 10, 2027 departure of Allure of the Seas changed from a five-night cruise visiting Mexico and the Bahamas to a four-night sailing calling at Cozumel only. This is a reported change to one sailing—not evidence that all Allure cruises or the wider deployment changed. A shorter cruise and fewer ports can affect the value and logistics of a trip differently from a ship substitution. See Cruise Industry News’ report.
How to check whether your booking changed
- Open your current Royal Caribbean booking or sailing record. Compare it with the confirmation you originally received, using the latest record rather than an older itinerary saved or printed earlier.
- Check the ship and embarkation port separately. A ship-name change is not the same as a port change. Confirm the vessel and the city and terminal shown for departure.
- Compare the date, duration and every port. Look for changed departure or return dates, a shorter or longer sailing, and removed, added or substituted calls.
- Read the change notice for its own terms. Note the response deadline, whether you can accept the replacement or select another sailing, refund availability, and any fare or non-cruise cost treatment stated in that notice.
- Contact Royal Caribbean or your travel advisor if the record and notice conflict. Ask for the applicable options and deadline in writing before making travel arrangements around the revised schedule.
There is no single set of guest choices or refund terms established here for all redeployments. The reported Southampton notice is a specific example, not a promise that another affected booking will receive the same options.

What a schedule change can mean for your travel budget
A homeport change may alter the cost or practicality of flights, ground transportation, hotels and time off work. A changed sailing length or port list can also affect plans made around the original cruise. Before paying for new non-cruise arrangements, confirm the current sailing details and review the change notice’s terms. If you bought travel insurance, check your own policy’s wording or contact the insurer; the reports cited here do not establish that a Royal Caribbean redeployment is covered.
Why there is no complete change list here
The dated reports document several specific changes, but they do not establish an exhaustive October 2026 change log. The safest source for whether your particular reservation is affected is its latest booking record and the notice sent for that sailing. Confirm the vessel, homeport, sailing dates, duration, ports and notice-specific choices rather than relying on a season announcement or a list of reported examples.
