That figure was an asking indication, not a confirmed sale price. The available reports do not establish whether the property later sold or who owns it now.
What was reported about the listing?
PerthNow reported on 13 October 2022 that the Porteouses had put the Nedlands property on the market the previous Saturday, with offers invited around $5.75 million. The article described the home using the promotional phrase “a residence of exceptional stature”; that was listing language, not an independent valuation. PerthNow’s October 2022 report did not report a completed sale at that price.
Domain reported the next day that Rose and Willie Porteous had bought the house in 2019 for $4.4 million. The figures refer to different events: a reported purchase price and a later asking indication.
| Reported figure | What it refers to | Source |
|---|---|---|
| $4.4 million | The Porteouses’ reported 2019 purchase price | Domain, 14 October 2022 |
| Around $5.75 million | Offers invited when the home was listed in October 2022; not a confirmed sale price | PerthNow, 13 October 2022 |
The difference between those reported figures does not establish a realized capital gain. That would require a verified later sale price and consideration of transaction dates, costs, property condition and an appropriate comparison basis.

What did the house include?
Domain described the residence as having five bedrooms and four bathrooms, with a grand staircase, elevator, marble fireplace, butler’s pantry and imported kitchen appliances. PerthNow also noted a grand entry hall and high ceilings, and identified a French-imported white Lacanche cooker in the kitchen.
The 2022 reports used different architectural descriptions: one called the house Georgian-style and another described it as neo-classical. Those are the outlets’ characterizations rather than a verified formal classification.

What is known about its design and earlier listings?
A 2017 report by realestate.com.au credited Melbourne architects Trethowan with the design and R K Brine Master Builders with construction. It also described parquetry flooring, high ceilings, a marble fireplace, an elevator and a Lacanche cooker. The home had been listed previously, including in 2017 and 2018, according to PerthNow’s 2022 account.
In February 2017, realestate.com.au reported a “mid-$5 million” guide for an earlier listing. That report said the property was officially owned by Rose Porteous’s daughter Joanna Lacson-Fox at the time; this is a historical detail specific to that report, not evidence of later ownership. Selling agent Peter Robertson of William Porteous Properties International described the house then as “unique” for its Georgian style. The 2017 report is the source for those details.

Did the house sell, and who owns it now?
The cited reports establish the October 2022 listing and the prices reported for the 2019 purchase and 2022 asking indication. They do not establish the eventual sale outcome, current title ownership, whether the property is listed now, or its present-day value. The $5.75 million figure should therefore be understood only in the context of the 2022 listing.
