Forbes estimated Cristiano Ronaldo’s net worth at $1.2 billion and Lionel Messi’s at $1.1 billion on October 8, 2026, putting Ronaldo ahead by about $100 million. These are Forbes estimates, not audited personal balance sheets, and net worth is different from earnings.
Who is richer: Ronaldo or Messi?
On Forbes’ real-time athlete profiles as displayed October 8, 2026, Ronaldo has the higher estimated net worth. The comparison is based on the same publisher’s estimates at that date:

Forbes’ 2026 athlete earnings estimates put Ronaldo at $300 million over the prior 12 months and Messi at $140 million. Forbes breaks those totals into on-field and off-field income:

Ronaldo’s off-field estimate includes endorsements, appearances, licensing, memorabilia, and other business activity. Forbes says his Al-Nassr contract was renewed for two years in 2025 and describes it as believed to pay more than $200 million annually. For Messi, Forbes’ estimate includes $70 million in on-field and $70 million in off-field income. The 2026 list notes that the MLS Players Association disclosed $28.3 million in guaranteed compensation for Messi that season, and discusses revenue-sharing arrangements with league partners Adidas and Apple TV alongside personal endorsements. Forbes estimates Ronaldo’s career earnings at $2.1 billion and Messi’s at roughly $1.8 billion, before taxes and agent fees. Those are cumulative earnings estimates—not cash on hand and not estimates of current wealth. Forbes Australia’s 2026 Ronaldo feature reports both figures.
