Rolex’s materials identify athletes across several sports; they do not provide comparable net-worth figures for those athletes. The clearest example of why a ranking needs dated evidence is Roger Federer: Forbes reported one estimate in March 2026, then said in August that his wealth had fallen below $1 billion.
Why a definitive “20 wealthiest” list isn’t supported
A credible top-20 ranking needs two things for each person: evidence that Rolex has a Testimonee relationship with them, and a dated estimate of their net worth produced on a comparable basis. The available information establishes neither a complete set of 20 athlete relationships nor comparable net-worth estimates for those athletes. A ranked list would therefore risk presenting guesses as facts.

Rolex’s official sports overview describes partnerships in sailing, motor sport, golf, tennis and equestrianism. Its roster examples span generations, but the cited materials do not establish a complete cross-sport list of current partners. The names below are examples Rolex itself identifies—not a ranking or an exhaustive roster.
Which athletes does Rolex identify as Testimonees?
Tennis
Rolex’s February 2026 tennis information sheet names current champions Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, Jannik Sinner and Iga Świątek, alongside rising players Taylor Fritz, João Fonseca, Mirra Andreeva, Victoria Mboko, Holger Rune, Ben Shelton and Qinwen Zheng. It also names historical Testimonees, including Roger Federer, Rod Laver, Björn Borg, Chris Evert, Stefan Edberg, Justine Henin, Ana Ivanovic, Angelique Kerber, Garbiñe Muguruza, Li Na, Pat Rafter, Sloane Stephens and Caroline Wozniacki.

The same February 2026 sheet dates Federer’s relationship to 2001, Sinner’s to 2020, Świątek’s to 2021 and Alcaraz’s to 2022. Those dates describe the relationships noted in that document; they do not turn its examples into a complete, permanently current roster. A March 2020 Rolex tennis information sheet also named Federer as a Testimonee, but it is historical evidence rather than a current roster.
Golf
In a Rolex newsroom release dated June 11, 2026, ahead of the U.S. Open, the company identified Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko, Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Adam Scott and Tiger Woods as Testimonees. The release also named rising stars Ludvig Åberg and Jeeno Thitikul. This is a dated set of golf examples, not a cross-sport wealth ranking.
Sailing, motor sport and equestrianism
Rolex includes these sports among its partnership areas, but the reviewed materials do not establish a comparable, complete roster and wealth dataset for their athletes. The tennis and golf names above should not be mistaken for the full range of Rolex’s sporting relationships.
What the available wealth evidence says
Federer’s estimate changed over 2026
Forbes’ Roger Federer profile search result gave an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion as of March 10, 2026. In a later report dated August 11, 2026, Forbes said Federer was no longer a billionaire after shares in On Holding declined. The later report does not provide a precise revised figure in the information available here, so it would be misleading to present $1.1 billion as his current net worth. These are estimates, not audited personal balance sheets.

Net worth is not yearly income
Forbes’ 2026 World’s Highest-Paid Athletes list covers earnings from May 1, 2025, to May 1, 2026. Its measure includes salary, prize money and off-field income such as sponsorships and appearance fees. That is a one-year earnings window, not a measure of accumulated assets minus liabilities. It cannot be substituted for net worth in a “wealthiest” ranking.
| Measure | What it represents | Evidence available here |
|---|---|---|
| Net worth | An estimate of accumulated assets less liabilities at a particular point in time; it can change with the value of investments and businesses. | Forbes gave Federer an estimated $1.1 billion as of March 10, 2026, then reported on August 11, 2026, that he was no longer a billionaire. |
| Annual earnings | Income received over a defined period, including sports compensation and, in Forbes’ 2026 ranking, sponsorships and appearance fees. | Forbes’ 2026 ranking covers May 1, 2025, through May 1, 2026; it is not a net-worth ranking. |
| Career earnings | Total earnings across a career; this does not by itself account for taxes, spending, investments or liabilities. | No comparable career-earnings figures for 20 verified Rolex Testimonees are established in the available materials. |
What a sound ranking would need
To rank athletes by wealth rather than popularity or recent income, each entry would need a confirmed Rolex relationship and a comparable, dated wealth estimate. The underlying evidence should also make clear what the figure measures and whether business holdings or other assets may have changed in value.
- Verify whether the athlete is a current or historical Testimonee, and identify a dated Rolex source.
- Use net-worth estimates for every entry; do not mix them with annual income or career earnings.
- Attach an estimate date and its publisher to each figure, especially when wealth depends on publicly traded shares or private businesses.
- Leave an athlete unranked if comparable evidence is not available rather than infer wealth from endorsements, sports results or a highest-paid list.
Without those details for 20 athletes, the evidence supports a guide to named Rolex Testimonees and the limits of the available wealth figures—not a defensible top-20 ranking.
