Rogers Communications says it owns 100% of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), the parent company of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors. Rogers completed its purchase of Kilmer Sports’ remaining 25% stake on October 1, 2026, after acquiring Bell/BCE’s 37.5% stake in 2025.
Who owns the Maple Leafs and Raptors now?
Rogers Communications says it owns all of MLSE. The company completed its acquisition of Kilmer Sports Inc.’s remaining 25% stake on October 1, 2026, bringing Rogers’ ownership to 100%, according to Rogers’ completion announcement.
MLSE includes the Maple Leafs (NHL), Raptors (NBA), Toronto FC (MLS), Toronto Argonauts (CFL), affiliated development teams for its Toronto NHL and NBA franchises, Scotiabank Arena, and a partnership with Live Nation. Rogers’ broader portfolio also includes the Toronto Blue Jays, Rogers Centre, Sportsnet, more than 30 television networks, and more than 40 radio stations.
How Rogers acquired MLSE
Rogers became MLSE’s sole owner through two separate transactions: first buying Bell/BCE’s stake, then acquiring Kilmer Sports’ remaining shares. The prices below are transaction terms reported by Rogers, not independent valuations of MLSE.

The Bell/BCE purchase
On September 18, 2024, Rogers announced an agreement to buy Bell/BCE’s 37.5% interest in MLSE for C$4.7 billion. Rogers said that closing would bring its ownership to 75%. The agreement was subject to league and regulatory approvals. Rogers reported approvals from the NHL, NBA, CFL, MLS, and AHL on June 4, 2025, while noting that CRTC approval remained necessary for an additional indirect interest in Toronto Raptors Network Ltd. (NBA TV Canada). The transaction closed effective July 1, 2025; Rogers announced the closing on July 2. See the 2024 agreement announcement, June 2025 league-approval update, and closing announcement.
The Kilmer Sports purchase
On July 6, 2026, Rogers announced an agreement to acquire Kilmer Sports’ remaining 25% for C$4.35 billion and said it expected the deal to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. That was the announced expectation at the time; Rogers later said the transaction was complete on October 1, 2026. The two acquisition prices should not be compared as though they bought the same-sized stake: Rogers reported buying 37.5% from Bell/BCE and 25% from Kilmer Sports.

What the ownership change means—and what it does not establish
Rogers has announced plans to create a Rogers Sports business unit bringing together its sports, media, and entertainment businesses, including MLSE and the Blue Jays. The completion announcement described an interim leadership arrangement: Keith Pelley would remain MLSE president and CEO, while Mark Shapiro would remain Blue Jays president and CEO; Pelley would also take on additional accountability for Rogers Media. These are announced plans and arrangements, not confirmation of later implementation.
Rogers CEO Tony Staffieri said: “We’re proud to bring these beloved teams together with the rest of Rogers to deliver more for fans, audiences, and customers.” Rogers also said it was committed to investing in teams and enhancing the fan experience. Those statements describe the company’s intentions; they do not establish measurable consumer benefits or guarantee sporting results.

Does Bell still have Leafs and Raptors broadcast rights?
Rogers’ September 2024 announcement said Bell would have the opportunity to renew its existing MLSE broadcast and sponsorship rights long-term at fair market value. It described Bell’s access to content rights for 50% of Toronto Maple Leafs regional games and 50% of Toronto Raptors games for which MLSE controlled the rights. That was language about the 2024 agreement. Rogers’ October 2026 completion announcement did not update Bell’s rights arrangements, so it does not establish which rights Bell currently holds or show that Rogers’ ownership gives Rogers every broadcast right.
