Rogers’ Boxing Week 2024 promotion listed the iPhone 16 at $12 per month, the iPhone 15 at $10 per month, and the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S24 at $0 per month under qualifying financing, bill-credit and device-return terms. These were not unconditional free-phone offers. The promotion was time-limited, with several discounts reported to end December 31, 2024.

This article reflects the historical Canadian offers reported on December 15, 26 and 30, 2024—not prices confirmed as available today.

The December 30 Rogers update

Rogers updated its Boxing Week plan pricing on December 30, 2024, while retaining added data and selected roaming or international benefits. The updated prices reported by MobileSyrup were:

Plan type Reported price Important qualification
200GB BYOD $55/month Bring your own device
200GB BYOD with U.S. roaming $60/month Four months of U.S. roaming
200GB Canada/U.S./Mexico BYOD $70/month Permanent plan geography, not a temporary roaming bonus
200GB with device financing $60/month Device financing required
200GB with financing and U.S. roaming $65/month Four months of U.S. roaming
200GB Canada/U.S./Mexico with financing $70/month Device financing required
100GB 5G add-a-line BYOD $39/month Add-a-line offer; 250Mbps speed cap
100GB 5G add-a-line $44/month Add-a-line offer with device financing; 250Mbps speed cap

The $39 and $44 options were add-a-line prices, not ordinary standalone plans. The four-month U.S. roaming benefit also should not be treated as equivalent to permanent Canada-U.S. service.

These figures were reported by MobileSyrup. They should be read as advertised or reported snapshots, not guaranteed prices for every Rogers customer.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 pricing

The iPhone 16 was reported at $12 per month with device return, down from a previously listed $17 per month. The iPhone 15 was reported at $10 per month with device return, compared with an earlier $21.44 per month.

A separate December 15 report from iPhone in Canada described the iPhone 16 128GB at $12 per month in-store with trade-in, versus $32 per month online, with up to $480 in credit. Those figures should not be merged into one universal offer: channel, storage capacity, trade-in treatment, customer status, plan eligibility and the date of the transaction could all affect the price.

The reported iPhone discounts were expected to end December 31, 2024. A customer comparing them should confirm whether the quoted price required an eligible trade-in, whether the credit was immediate or applied later, and whether the phone had to be returned at the end of the financing term.

Pixel and Galaxy offers

The headline offers were the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S24 at $0 per month. In both cases, “$0/month” referred to a monthly device payment under Rogers’ promotional financing structure—not to an unconditional free phone.

  • Gemini AI Integration: Built-in Gemini AI assistant supercharges your productivity and creativity, helping you accomplish tasks faster, generate content, and unlock new possibilities right from your smartphone without needing additional apps or subscriptions

The same update listed the Pixel 9 Pro at $10 per month and the Galaxy S24+ at $15 per month, both with device-return conditions. It also listed a Galaxy S24 and Galaxy Buds FE bundle at $5.84 per month. The available reporting confirms the monthly figure but does not establish every bundle term, storage variant or final keep-the-device amount.

What “$0/month” really meant

A return-financed phone typically creates a choice at the end of the financing period:

  1. Return the phone in the condition required by the agreement.
  2. Pay the applicable remaining amount if you want to keep it.

The exact end-of-term amount, acceptable-condition rules and consequences for damage, missing accessories or a late return must be checked in the individual Rogers agreement. The available historical coverage does not establish one precise final balance for every device.

Even with a $0 device payment, the customer could still pay:

  • The required Rogers wireless plan each month.
  • Applicable taxes.
  • Activation, setup or service fees.
  • Any trade-in shortfall or missed bill-credit consequences.
  • The end-of-term amount if keeping the phone.
  • Potential damage or condition charges when returning it.

The Pixel 9 coverage specifically noted that a setup service fee could apply, and some device listings stated that taxes were extra. A $0 device line therefore does not equal a $0 monthly bill.

Timeline: December 15 to December 30, 2024

Date What was reported
December 15 Pixel 9 at $0 per month for 24 months with financing, bill credit and phone return; iPhone 16 128GB at $12 in-store with trade-in or $32 online; Galaxy S24 128GB at $1 in-store or $6 online under the reported terms.
December 26 Phone list included iPhone 16 at $12, iPhone 15 at $10, Pixel 9 and Galaxy S24 at $0, Pixel 9 Pro at $10, Galaxy S24+ at $15 and the S24/Buds FE bundle at $5.84.
December 30 Rogers’ listed plan prices were reduced or adjusted again, with the updated $55–$70 main-plan range and $39/$44 add-a-line options.
December 31 Several iPhone discounts were reported to expire.

The December 15 figures came from iPhone in Canada. The December 26 device list and December 30 plan update came from MobileSyrup. The different numbers reflect changing dates, channels and offer mechanics—not necessarily contradictory reports.

How to calculate the real 24-month cost

For a useful comparison, calculate the full commitment rather than comparing device payments alone:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Total promotional commitment = monthly plan × required months + monthly device payments + taxes and fees − applicable bill credits − verified trade-in value.

For example, a $60 monthly financing plan over 24 months represents $1,440 in plan charges before taxes and fees. A $0 device payment does not remove that plan obligation, and it does not answer what happens if the customer keeps the phone at the end of the term.

Who was likely to benefit?

Existing Rogers customers

The offers could be attractive if you already intended to remain on an eligible Rogers plan and were comfortable returning the phone after the term. Upgrade eligibility and account-specific pricing still needed to be confirmed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Frequent upgraders

Return financing can suit customers who replace their phones regularly, keep devices in excellent condition and value a low monthly payment over ownership.

BYOD shoppers

A $0 device payment may be misleading if the required Rogers plan costs more than a suitable BYOD alternative. Compare the full 24-month plan difference, not just the phone line.

Customers who want to keep the phone

Calculate the final keep-the-device balance before signing. A direct purchase or standard financing arrangement may provide more predictable ownership, even if its advertised monthly payment is higher.

Trade-in customers

Check whether the lowest price requires a specific trade-in model, condition or channel. Compare Rogers’ quoted value with what you could receive by selling the old phone privately.

Eligibility and fine print to verify

The public deal summaries did not establish every eligibility rule. Before ordering, confirm:

  • Whether the offer applies to a new line, upgrade, existing account or add-a-line.
  • Whether a qualifying Rogers Infinite plan is required.
  • Whether trade-in is mandatory or simply increases the credit.
  • Whether the price is online-only, in-store-only or available through both channels.
  • Which storage variant is included.
  • Whether the device must be financed and returned.
  • When bill credits begin and what happens if service is cancelled.
  • The phone’s acceptable return condition and final keep-the-device amount.

Was the Rogers Boxing Day deal good?

The Pixel 9 and Galaxy S24 offers were compelling monthly-payment promotions for an eligible customer who already wanted Rogers service, expected to upgrade again and could meet the return conditions. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 discounts were also meaningful compared with the earlier reported monthly prices.

They were less compelling for someone who wanted to own the device outright, preferred a cheaper BYOD plan, had a valuable trade-in, or might damage or lose the phone before returning it. The right comparison is the total 24-month cost plus the ownership consequence—not the headline device payment.

Because these were December 2024 promotions, none of the listed prices should be treated as current in 2026. For current offers, check Rogers’ official wireless site and trade-in page, and compare ownership options from Apple, Google and Samsung.

Bottom line

Rogers’ Boxing Day 2024 deals offered low advertised device payments, including $0 per month for the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S24. But the offers depended on qualifying plans, financing, bill credits, trade-ins and device-return terms. They were potentially worthwhile for eligible Rogers customers seeking a low monthly payment—not automatically the cheapest way to buy or own a phone.
