A last-minute retailer-listing rumor put the ROG Xbox Ally X at $850 and the standard ROG Xbox Ally at $550. Those were pre-release figures, not official prices: on September 25, 2025, Xbox announced U.S. estimated retail prices of $999.99 for the X and $599.99 for the standard model. The rumor was lower than the eventual U.S. prices, so it is not a current deal or price quote.
What did the last-minute ROG Xbox Ally price rumor say?
Tom’s Hardware reported on September 25, 2025, that retailer listings had shown the ROG Xbox Ally X at $850 and the standard ROG Xbox Ally at $550. The report described pre-release retailer listings; it was not an official price announcement. Tom’s Hardware’s report
What prices did Xbox announce for the U.S.?
Later on September 25, 2025, Xbox Wire announced U.S. estimated retail prices of $999.99 for the ROG Xbox Ally X and $599.99 for the standard ROG Xbox Ally. That made the announced U.S. estimates $149.99 higher for the X and $49.99 higher for the standard model than the rumored listings. Xbox Wire’s preorder announcement
| Model | Reported pre-release listing rumor | U.S. estimated retail price announced by Xbox, September 25, 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| ROG Xbox Ally X | $850 (Tom’s Hardware report) | $999.99 (Xbox Wire) |
| ROG Xbox Ally | $550 (Tom’s Hardware report) | $599.99 (Xbox Wire) |
Are those prices current or worldwide prices?
No. The $850 and $550 figures are historical, reported retailer-listing rumors, not current offers. Xbox Wire said exact prices would be announced for each region as preorders went live, so its September 2025 U.S. estimates should not be treated as global prices. Xbox later announced worldwide availability beginning October 16, 2025. Xbox Wire’s launch announcement
