Rod Snyder’s final day at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was Wednesday, August 14, 2024, according to contemporaneous departure reports. He had joined EPA as Agriculture Advisor in October 2021 and was later named to lead the agency’s Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

When did Rod Snyder leave the EPA?

Snyder’s last workday was Wednesday, August 14, 2024. E&E News reported on August 12 that his farewell email said Wednesday would be his final day; a report published the next day by Successful Farming’s Ag Insider identified the date as August 14, citing an EPA press aide. What was Snyder’s role at EPA?

EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan announced Snyder’s appointment as Agriculture Advisor on October 7, 2021. The agency said his assignment was to lead outreach and engagement with the agricultural community. EPA’s appointment announcement.

E&E News reported that Snyder worked on matters including the Renewable Fuel Standard and pesticide regulations. In his farewell email, he also listed milestones including a food-loss and waste strategy, rural drinking-water funding, and climate-smart agriculture. Those are Snyder’s reported account of work during his tenure, not an independent assessment of the outcomes or his individual impact. E&E News.

What did Snyder say about leaving?

E&E News quoted Snyder’s farewell email to staff: “Serving as EPA Ag Advisor for the past three years has truly been the honor of my career.” In August 2024, Agri-Pulse reported that he had no specific next career move at the time and wanted to remain involved in agriculture, conservation, and climate policy.
