Why did Rockwell say it acquired Oylo?
Rockwell described the acquisition as a way to expand its global delivery capability and complement IT cybersecurity expertise it said it had gained through its recent acquisition of Avnet Data Security. In Rockwell’s framing, Oylo brought industrial operational technology (OT) and ICS capabilities alongside that IT expertise; the announcement stated the strategic rationale, not a measured business outcome.
Frank Kulaszewicz, Rockwell’s senior vice president of Lifecycle Services, said at the time: “As connected smart devices are introduced into the plant floor, having a comprehensive cyber security strategy that spans across industrial operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) is more critical now than ever before.” This was Rockwell’s stated view in its October 2, 2020 announcement.
Were the acquisition terms disclosed?
No. Rockwell’s acquisition announcement did not disclose the terms, including a purchase price. It also did not report a performance figure for the deal.
