Roblox’s creator economy connects purchases and activity in experiences to creator earnings, platform services, and—only for eligible earnings—cash through Developer Exchange (DevEx). Roblox reports that creators earned more than $1.5 billion in 2025, up from $923 million in 2024. Those totals show growth across the platform, not what a typical creator earns; a Robux balance is not automatically cashable income.
How money moves through Roblox
Creators can earn through sales and other eligible activity, usually first in Robux. Roblox provides discovery, payment processing, hosting, moderation, support, and other platform services. A creator may then exchange qualifying Earned Robux for money through DevEx if they meet the requirements and Roblox approves the request.
The distinction between Robux and cash matters: some Robux sources qualify for DevEx and others do not, and the applicable exchange rate depends on when and how the Robux were earned. Roblox reserves discretion to determine whether Robux qualify.
What Roblox’s growth figures do—and do not—show
Roblox says creators earned over $1.5 billion in 2025, compared with $923 million in 2024. Its 2025 Form 10-K reports developer exchange fees of $1.503 billion and $922.821 million, respectively. Roblox reported that developer exchange fees rose 63% year over year, citing growth in bookings, differential Robux pricing introduced in November 2024, Creator Rewards launched in July 2025, and a higher DevEx amount for eligible earnings beginning September 5, 2025. These are aggregate platform figures, not evidence of a typical creator’s income or a guarantee that an individual experience will be profitable. Roblox’s September 2026 account of creator and economic-impact figures is a company statement; the 2025 Form 10-K provides the company’s financial reporting.

In its 2025 Form 10-K, Roblox said more than 35,500 creators had qualified and registered for DevEx by year-end, while more than 23,500 creators participated in DevEx and were paid during 2025. These measures describe platform reach and participation, not the distribution of creator income. Roblox Creator Hub and the Form 10-K are the sources for those figures.
Ways creators can earn
Roblox lists several monetization routes. They differ in what triggers earnings, whether payment is in Robux or real-world currency, and whether DevEx applies.

| Route | How it works | What to know about the creator’s share |
|---|---|---|
| Experience items and purchases | Players buy items or other offerings within an experience. | Roblox says creators generally receive 70% of Robux spent on items sold in their own experience. The share depends on transaction type; 70% is not a universal rate. |
| Subscriptions and paid access | Creators charge for subscriptions or access to an experience. | Roblox lists these as earning routes; a specific share is not stated in the cited Creator Hub materials. |
| Avatar items and Marketplace sales | Creators make avatar items available through Roblox’s Marketplace or sell them in an experience. | Roblox says Marketplace sales generally return 30% to the creator. For avatar UGC, the documented split is 30% to the creator, 30% as Roblox’s marketplace fee, and 40% to the seller. If the item sells inside another creator’s game, that game owner receives the seller portion. A creator selling their own item in their own game can receive both creator and seller shares, or 70% of Robux spent on that transaction. |
| Creator Store models and plugins | Creators sell development assets through the Creator Store. | For real-world-priced models and plugins, Roblox says creators receive 100% of net proceeds. This is not 100% of the buyer’s gross payment, and it is a separate model from Robux earnings exchanged through DevEx. |
| Ads and Creator Rewards | Earnings may depend on in-game advertising, qualifying engagement, or bringing eligible users to Roblox. | Creator Rewards include 5 Robux when a qualifying Active Spender plays an experience for at least 10 minutes, limited to the first three games played that day. Roblox also documents a 35% revenue share on the first $100 in Robux purchases by qualifying new or returning users attributed through a direct link or search, subject to restrictions. |
| Physical commerce | Commerce APIs let creators and brands offer physical products in games; Roblox names Shopify as its first integrated partner. | Roblox also describes an Approved Merchandiser Program linking some physical purchases to digital items. The cited materials do not establish a universal creator share for physical sales. |
Roblox says platform fees support services including Creator Rewards, payment processing, hosting, moderation, support, user acquisition, translation, and compliance. Because the transaction bases differ, a percentage for a Marketplace sale should not be compared directly with a percentage of net proceeds from a Creator Store sale.
These routes and transaction details are described in Roblox’s Creator Hub and its creator economy and Marketplace information.

DevEx: who can cash out and what rates apply
Roblox defines Earned Robux as Robux from qualifying creator activity. Its eligible categories include certain in-experience developer products, passes and subscriptions; certain Marketplace purchases; eligible Robux Transfers; paid private servers and access; Roblox Plus incentives; in-game ads; Creator Store models and plugins; avatar items; and Creator Rewards.
Roblox excludes directly purchased Robux, subscription Robux grants, trading or resale proceeds, Robux transfers received, gift-card redemptions, certain template-game passes without legitimate visits, and Robux tied to moderated violative content. Eligibility is not automatic: Roblox reviews each DevEx request, and prior approval does not guarantee later approval.

Requirements to use DevEx
- Be at least 13 years old.
- Have at least 30,000 Earned Robux.
- Have a verified email address.
- Have a valid DevEx portal account.
- Submit the required tax form.
Rates depend on when and how Robux were earned
| Qualifying Robux | Rate in Roblox Support materials | Illustration at 30,000 Robux |
|---|---|---|
| Earned at or after 10 a.m. PT on September 5, 2025 | $0.0038 per Earned Robux | $114 |
| Qualifying balance earned before that cutoff | $0.0035 per Earned Robux | $105 |
| Qualifying in-game spending by eligible U.S. users verified as age 18 or older, effective June 8, 2026 | $0.0054 per Robux | $162 |
The $0.0054 rate is conditional, not a general replacement for the standard rate. Roblox Support says the U.S. 18+ rate is cashed out before other rates, and old-rate balances must be cleared before new-rate balances. Spending Robux does not reduce the old-rate Earned Robux balance. These ordering rules can affect an individual cash-out, so check the account’s DevEx balance and current DevEx instructions before relying on an estimate. The rate and qualifying-source rules are also set out in Roblox’s DevEx Terms of Use.

The platform’s reported audience and rising aggregate payouts indicate that Roblox has several routes for creators to monetize experiences, assets, engagement, and—in some cases—physical products. They do not establish how much an individual creator is likely to earn. The figures available here do not provide an independent income distribution, so they cannot show typical earnings or the odds that a new creator will reach DevEx eligibility.

For personal-finance planning, treat Robux as a platform balance until the source qualifies, the minimum and account requirements are met, and Roblox approves a DevEx request. Track which rate applies to each balance, and distinguish gross buyer spending from the creator’s actual share and from net proceeds. Physical commerce is an emerging extension of the system, not a substitute for understanding the rules governing Robux earnings.
