Revenue rose 38% year over year and average daily active users (DAUs) rose 20%, according to the company’s November 8, 2023 results release. These are historical figures, not a current operating update.

Why revenue and bookings show different growth rates
Revenue and bookings are related, but they are not interchangeable. Roblox reported revenue growth of 38% and bookings growth of 20% for Q3 2023. Revenue is the GAAP measure; bookings is a non-GAAP measure that Roblox defines as revenue plus the change in deferred revenue and other non-cash adjustments.
The timing differs because Roblox recognizes much of its revenue over the estimated average lifetime of a paying user. Bookings capture sales when they occur and, in the company’s view, can provide a timelier indication of operating trends. Roblox says substantially all bookings come from virtual currency sales, including one-time purchases and monthly subscriptions, paid through processors or prepaid cards.

What the user and engagement figures mean
The 70.2 million figure is average DAUs for the quarter, not a count of distinct people who used Roblox at any time during Q3. It was 20% higher than the average in the same quarter a year earlier. Roblox also reported 16.0 billion hours engaged, up 20% year over year, and an average of 14.7 million monthly unique payers. These measures describe different parts of activity: daily reach, time spent, and paying users.
They should not be treated as direct measures of revenue or profitability. A larger user base or more hours does not, by itself, establish how much users spend or whether the company made a profit.

Growth did not mean Roblox was profitable
Roblox reported a net loss of $277.2 million for Q3 2023. The revenue increase and user growth therefore should not be read as evidence of GAAP profitability. CEO David Baszucki attributed the results to “our continued platform innovation and growth across all age groups and geographies”; that is management’s characterization of the quarter, not an independently established explanation of the results.

The Q3 2023 headline is dated. Roblox’s Q3 2024 release reported $919.0 million in revenue, up 29% year over year, and 88.9 million average DAUs, up 27%. A Q3 2025 shareholder letter later reported more than 150 million average DAUs, alongside revenue growth of 48% and bookings growth of 70%.

Those comparisons show why the 70.2 million figure should not be presented as current. They do not establish Roblox’s latest results as of October 8, 2026, and the growth rates are for different reporting periods. For a sound quarter-to-quarter or year-to-year comparison, use the same reporting period and metric definition; do not compare DAUs from one period with revenue or bookings from another as if they measured the same thing.
