The milestone was reported less than ten days after the campaign’s August 9 creation date; it is a historical snapshot, not the petition’s current count.
Is the petition to remove the Roblox CEO real?
Yes. The Change.org campaign, titled “Remove David Baszucki,” lists Roblox as the decision-maker and gives August 9, 2025, as its creation date. Its supporters call for Baszucki’s resignation or removal and make claims about child safety, moderation, and accountability. Those are the petitioners’ allegations, not court findings or independently established conclusions.
Change.org’s displayed signature total can change over time. Its “verified” label should not be treated as an independent audit or evidence that signers represent Roblox users, parents, or the public as a whole.
How many signatures does the petition have?
Insider Gaming reported on August 18, 2025, that the petition had exceeded 110,000 signatures in less than ten days. That figure describes the milestone reported on that date. It should not be presented as the live total: the campaign page updates, and totals shown in search results can differ depending on when they were captured.

Why did the petition go viral?
The campaign gathered attention amid complaints about Roblox’s handling of child safety and moderation, including controversy surrounding creator Schlep. Insider Gaming also cited a Louisiana attorney general lawsuit as contemporaneous context. A lawsuit contains allegations; its mention does not establish that those allegations have been proven.
The petition argues that Roblox should be a safe and creative space for children and asks for leadership accountability. The existence and popularity of the campaign show that supporters are pressing that case; they do not, by themselves, establish the accuracy of every claim or represent a measured view of Roblox’s broader community.

What did Roblox say about removing vigilantes?
In an August 13, 2025, post titled “More on our Removal of Vigilantes From Roblox,” Chief Safety Officer Matt Kaufman said the banned vigilantes had impersonated minors, approached users, and attempted to move them to other platforms for sexually explicit conversations. Roblox urged users to report concerns through its reporting tools and provide prompt, specific information. Kaufman wrote, “Accurate, timely reporting from our community is important.”
That is Roblox’s stated rationale for its actions, not an independent resolution of the dispute over Schlep or a comprehensive measure of platform safety. Roblox said that, as of the quarter ended June 30, 2025, users sent an average of 6.1 billion chat messages per day and engaged in 1.1 million hours of voice chat across 28 languages. Those company-reported figures indicate the scale of activity, but do not verify the petition’s allegations or establish how effective safeguards are.

What safety measures did Roblox announce later?
Roblox announced additional age-related measures after the petition milestone. The timeline shows what the company announced, but does not establish that the petition caused those changes or that the safety debate has been resolved.
- September 4, 2025: Roblox announced a plan to expand age estimation to all users. In that announcement, Kaufman acknowledged, “We recognize that no system is foolproof and we cannot prevent all problematic content from appearing on Roblox.”
- February 5, 2026: Roblox said age checks were required to chat. It reported that 45% of 144 million daily active users had completed an age check, using participation data as of January 31, 2026. Among age-checked daily active users during the seven days ending January 31, Roblox reported that 35% were younger than 13, 38% were ages 13–17, and 27% were 18 or older. These are company-reported figures, not independently audited results.
- June 16, 2026: Roblox announced globally available Roblox Kids and Roblox Select account types, with age-based settings and parental controls.
Has David Baszucki resigned or been removed?
The available sources for this article do not establish a resignation, board action, or final court finding on the petition’s safety allegations. The 110,000-signature milestone is not evidence that the company acted on the demand. A reader checking for a later corporate outcome should look for a dated announcement from Roblox or another reliable current source rather than infer one from the petition’s changing count.
