The complication is that institutions can pay Ripple Prime for trading, clearing and financing services without buying the token. The October 10, 2026, Seoul Economic Daily report describes new work involving leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and institutional funds, but says Ripple has not disclosed how much XRP, if any, the leveraged-ETF business uses.
What Ripple’s reported Wall Street expansion involves
According to the October 10, 2026, Seoul Economic Daily report, Ripple Prime is entering the U.S. equity derivatives market by facilitating total-return swaps related to leveraged ETFs. In the arrangement described, an asset manager gets exposure to an ETF’s share-price movements; Ripple Prime settles gains and losses and collects financing fees. The report also says Ripple broadened its relationship with Brevan Howard, providing execution, clearing and financing services to funds managed by the firm. Seoul Economic Daily report.

These are traditional financial services that can generate revenue for Ripple. The report presents Ripple’s October 2025 acquisition of Hidden Road and its subsequent reorganization as Ripple Prime as part of the company’s broader move into institutional finance. The specific new arrangements are reported by the newspaper; the material available here does not include independent primary-source confirmation of them.

A fund can use Ripple Prime’s services and pay fees without purchasing XRP, according to the report. Those fees belong to Ripple as company revenue; they are not distributions to XRP holders. A larger client base, higher company valuation or greater presence in institutional markets therefore cannot, on its own, establish that demand for the token has risen.

The key missing figure is how much XRP, if any, the reported leveraged-ETF activity requires. Ripple has not disclosed the amount used in that business. Without usage or transaction data, the expansion cannot be translated into a reliable estimate of XRP purchases, ongoing holdings or price impact.
Where XRP could fit—and what remains unproven
The report identifies several possible connections between Ripple’s institutional business and XRP: the token is used to pay XRP Ledger transaction fees, can act as a bridge asset, and may be used as trading collateral on Ripple Prime. These are potential demand channels, not proof that the new clients are buying or holding XRP at scale. The report notes that ledger fees are small and does not quantify the XRP used as collateral or for bridging.

Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, is another reason the company’s institutional growth need not map directly to XRP. A dollar-pegged token can serve some payment and collateral needs that might otherwise involve XRP. On June 2, 2026, Ripple said RLUSD was available to institutions in Türkiye through BiLira, Bitexen and Bitlo, and reported its market capitalization at $1.7 billion. That figure is Ripple’s reported figure as of that announcement, not an independently audited market measurement in the source reviewed. Ripple’s Türkiye announcement.
RLUSD is also available on blockchains other than the XRP Ledger, according to the Seoul Economic Daily report. As a result, even growth in RLUSD usage would not necessarily mean equivalent demand for XRP. The relevant question is not simply whether Ripple’s services or stablecoin are growing, but which assets customers actually use, in what amounts, and whether they retain them.

Separate the bank milestone from token demand
Ripple announced it had received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for an application to establish Ripple National Trust Bank. The company says the planned arrangement would involve federal and state oversight of RLUSD reserves. The approval is conditional, and the announcement does not establish that the bank is operating or that its customers must acquire XRP. Check the OCC’s current status before treating the application as final. Ripple’s announcement.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse called the conditional approval “a massive step forward – setting the highest standard for stablecoin compliance with both federal and state oversight,” according to the company announcement. That is his characterization, not an independent assessment by the regulator.

ETF exposure is not the same as direct XRP ownership
Ripple’s company-authored ETF article reported that cumulative U.S. spot XRP ETF inflows exceeded $1.50 billion by early March 2026. The article also said Goldman Sachs disclosed $153.8 million in spot XRP ETF exposure in a Q4 2025 13F filing. These figures have distinct dates and sources: the inflow total is Ripple’s reported cumulative figure, while the Goldman figure is Ripple’s account of a filing. A 13F position in ETF shares does not prove the institution directly bought XRP for its own balance sheet, still held the shares later, or had an unhedged bet on XRP’s price. Ripple’s ETF article.

How to assess the expansion as an XRP investor
Keep company growth and token demand in separate columns. Announced partnerships, a conditional bank approval and new institutional services show activity at Ripple; evidence of XRP demand would need to show that customers actually acquire or use the token, in measurable amounts.
Quick Recap
- Ripple revenue: Fees for execution, clearing, financing or settlement can benefit the company without accruing directly to XRP holders.
- RLUSD activity: Stablecoin payments or collateral can support Ripple’s business while using a dollar-pegged asset instead of XRP.
- Possible XRP usage: Ledger fees, bridge transactions and collateral use could create token demand, but the reported business does not quantify these channels.
- ETF exposure: Fund inflows and institutional ETF-share disclosures indicate exposure through a financial product; they do not establish direct token ownership or lasting, unhedged demand.
- Evidence that would strengthen the case: Disclosed XRP usage tied to the new services, transaction volumes, or clear reporting on customer holdings would help connect Ripple’s expansion to token demand. The figures cited here do not establish that connection.
