Riot Games announced Hoby Darling as its next president on April 21, 2025. Riot described the role as working with teams across the company to support creativity and help them serve players; the company’s current leadership roster lists Darling as president and A. Dylan Jadeja as CEO.
Who is Hoby Darling?
Darling is an executive whose career has included leadership roles in gaming, technology, sports, and lifestyle businesses. Riot says he was part of Logitech’s global executive team and co-founded a division focused on esports athletes, creators, and the future of play. At Nike, Riot says he worked on sports innovation and portfolio companies including Converse and Cole Haan. What will Darling do as Riot president?
Riot said Darling would partner with teams across the company to help Rioters pursue creative work and serve players around the world. CEO Jadeja characterized Darling’s strengths in the announcement: “He knows how to bring out the best in teams, and he’ll help Rioters tap into their creativity, sharpen their focus, and channel their competitive fire.” Those are Jadeja’s expectations, not independently measured results.

Riot has not published a detailed remit, reporting structure, or list of specific operational responsibilities for the president role in the cited materials. The announcement frames the job as company-wide collaboration, but does not establish that Darling simply assumed every responsibility previously associated with another executive title.
How does the appointment fit Riot’s leadership timeline?
Jadeja fully stepped into the CEO role in September 2023 after a transition period, according to Riot’s transition update.
