Riley Keough secured a temporary court injunction on May 22, 2024, blocking a foreclosure auction of Graceland that had been scheduled for the next day. The order stopped the imminent sale; it was not a final ruling on every claim in Keough’s civil lawsuit. Later federal criminal proceedings, as reported by the Associated Press, identified Lisa Findley as responsible for fabricating loan documents and publishing the foreclosure notice.
Why Graceland faced a planned foreclosure auction
Keough, acting as trustee of the Promenade Trust, filed a verified complaint in Shelby County Chancery Court on May 15, 2024. The complaint identified the trust as Graceland’s owner and sought injunctive and declaratory relief. A copy of the verified complaint was hosted by Scribd.
The complaint alleged that documents presented in September 2023 falsely claimed Lisa Marie Presley had borrowed $3.8 million from Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC and pledged Graceland as security. The foreclosure notice asserted the purported debt, and the sale was set for May 23, 2024. These were the complaint’s allegations about the loan and the documents, not findings made in the May 22 injunction order. The Associated Press also reported on the dispute before the hearing in its May 21, 2024, account.
What Keough alleged about the documents
The complaint said the purported deed of trust had not been recorded in Shelby County. It also alleged that the named notary, Kimberly Philbrick, said she had never met Lisa Marie Presley or notarized the documents. Those assertions formed part of Keough’s case for stopping the sale.

What the judge ordered on May 22
On May 22, Shelby County Chancellor JoeDae Jenkins issued a temporary injunction that prevented the auction scheduled for May 23 from going forward. The Associated Press reported Jenkins said Keough’s side could be successful in arguing that the attempt to auction Graceland was fraudulent. The order addressed the urgent request to halt the sale; it did not itself resolve every civil issue in the lawsuit.
At the hearing, Jenkins said, “Graceland is a part of this community, well-loved by this community and indeed around the world,” as quoted by the Associated Press on May 22, 2024.

What later federal proceedings established
Subsequent federal proceedings clarified who was behind the scheme. The Associated Press reported that prosecutors identified Lisa Findley as the person who posed as people linked to the bogus lender, fabricated loan documents, and published the foreclosure notice. Prosecutors said Findley demanded a $2.85 million settlement from the Presley family in connection with the scheme.
Findley pleaded guilty and was later sentenced to more than four years in prison, according to the Associated Press’s reports on her guilty plea and sentencing. This later criminal case is distinct from the preliminary civil injunction Keough obtained in May 2024.

Was Graceland sold in foreclosure?
No. The May 22 temporary injunction stopped the auction planned for May 23, 2024. The injunction’s significance was preventing that scheduled sale from proceeding while Keough’s lawsuit sought court relief.
