Damiani Group acquired 100% of Baume & Mercier from Richemont, with the transaction completed on 1 July 2026. The sale was a private transaction, and its financial terms were not disclosed. Damiani has outlined plans to expand the watchmaker’s reach, but the companies’ announcements do not establish what, if anything, will change for customers’ warranties, servicing, prices or future watches.
Who bought Baume & Mercier?
Italian luxury group Damiani acquired full ownership of Baume & Mercier from Swiss luxury group Richemont. Richemont’s 22 January 2026 announcement said the companies had agreed to the sale in a private transaction. Richemont announced completion on 1 July 2026, saying Damiani acquired 100% of the watchmaker after certain conditions precedent were fulfilled.
What was the sale price?
The companies did not disclose the financial terms. No sale price or valuation can be confirmed from their announcements, so reported estimates should not be treated as established deal figures.
Why did Damiani want Baume & Mercier?
The companies described the deal as a strategic fit, citing Baume & Mercier’s strong footprint in Italy, its predominantly multi-brand wholesale distribution model and its accessible position in the luxury-watch segment. Damiani said it planned to build the Maison’s visibility and reach through its multi-brand distribution network and, over time, open select mono-brand boutiques in strategic locations.

Damiani’s portfolio includes jewellery brands Damiani, Salvini, Bliss and Calderoni; Venini, a historic Murano glassmaker; and Rocca, its multi-brand watch and jewellery distributor. The existing distribution business gives Damiani a route to pursue the expansion it described. Those plans are intentions announced by the companies, not confirmation that additional boutiques or distribution changes have already taken place.
What happens to Baume & Mercier under its new owner?
At the time of the agreement, Richemont said it would provide operational services for at least 12 months after closing while Damiani prepared to integrate the Maison into its operations. The completion notice confirmed that Richemont would continue providing services for an interim period, without repeating a specific duration. This is transition support; the completion notice identifies Damiani as the owner.

The releases do not say whether the change in ownership has affected warranty administration, repairs and servicing, prices, product plans or distribution in practice. They therefore cannot establish either that those arrangements changed or that they remained the same. Customers with a specific purchase or service issue should check directly with Baume & Mercier or the retailer handling the watch.

Richemont’s FY2026 annual report, for the year ended 31 March 2026, describes Baume & Mercier as established in 1830 and reports activity across the Clifton, Riviera, Hampton and Classima collections. It also discusses Clifton Baumatic development and a redesigned Clifton collection. Because the reporting period ended before the sale closed, this is background on the Maison before the ownership change, not evidence of its performance or product strategy under Damiani.

In its July 2026 completion release, the companies described Baume & Mercier as having a “200-year heritage.” Richemont’s annual report separately gives the establishment date as 1830; the release’s heritage phrase is company wording, not a separate calculation of the brand’s age.
