It was meant to cover one gourmet burger and a bottomless side per day in May, but customers reported trouble getting through checkout when sales opened. Red Robin attributed the launch failures to high traffic overwhelming its website and supporting systems, and said all passes sold.
What was the Red Robin $20 Burger Pass?
Red Robin announced the Bottomless Burger Pass on April 14, 2025, as a National Burger Month promotion. The company planned to sell a limited number online starting April 17 at 9 a.m. Mountain Time. Each pass cost $20 and was mailed to the buyer as a black-and-gold card. It could be used at participating U.S. restaurants from May 1 through May 31, 2025. Red Robin’s offer terms
The pass covered one gourmet burger of the customer’s choice and a bottomless side per day. The offer was subject to a $22 daily limit. At that maximum, the potential value over 31 days was $682, but that was not a guaranteed payout: any unused amount for a day was forfeited rather than carried forward.
What restrictions applied?
- Each customer could buy one pass.
- Unused daily value did not roll over, and any remaining funds expired after May 31, 2025.
- The pass could not be combined with other discounts.
- It was not valid for catering, gift cards, third-party delivery fees, or online orders at certain locations.
- Substitutions, additions, and premium sides could cost extra.
Why did the pass sell out so quickly?
Red Robin told customers in responses published by the Better Business Bureau that it had worked with its website and gift-card partners to prepare for traffic, but high interest caused its website and supporting systems to crash. The company said all passes had sold. Better Business Bureau complaint record and company responses

Customers who submitted BBB complaints described errors and difficulty reaching checkout. Those individual accounts and Red Robin’s response do not establish an independent technical root cause, the exact sellout time, or how many passes were available or sold. The reviewed sources also do not substantiate claims that bots or scalpers caused the sellout.

No. The pass was a limited-time 2025 offer, and its redemption period ended May 31, 2025. Red Robin also announced a separate Royalty sweepstakes for May 2025: members who bought a burger and beverage while logged in could be entered, and people who joined Royalty that month were also eligible. Red Robin said it would select 12 winners. That sweepstakes ended May 31, 2025, and was not a replacement pass or a current offer. Red Robin’s 2025 promotion announcement
